I got this idea (and the printable library cards) from www.twopeasinabucket.com - my friend Terry sends in cute pages all the time and this time i ran with it. School's out, i've got an emerging reader i need to encourage over the summer, i've got lots of pretty scrapbooking things that i didn't use up on my *massive* year end portfolio (that took two scrapbooks to hold it all)...
So - this is where the challenge originated (it's much cuter than what i did, but c'est la vie)
http://www.twopeasinabucket.com/cg_display.asp?cmd=display&seed_id=29936
and this is what i came up with...
I cut cardstock in half for the pages, and cut 12X12 scrapbooking paper into the same sizes. The leftover strips i used to bind the pages to each other in twos, then bound those to each other using the same method, glueing the strips so the colors would show on the outside.
Inside i made simple pockets to hold the library cards, added some stickers, made a cover and a little back page for him, and he's off. I borrowed it to take pictures for my blog, twice, but both times he stole it back before i got the pictures taken. He's already finished one book, and has brought three more to me for approval - one was a Young Readers volume (he will love the stories in there), one is a Freddy the Pig book (so much fun!) and the third was a gross science book ;) (i.e. the science of being gross i think)...
