Today i had a few things on my "to do" list that i hastily scribble in the margins of my homeschool planner, but suddenly T said "you have fiddle today?" and i realized i do! I had it on the calendar for tomorrow, but it was moved to Tuesday - so just by chance i happened to make the practice.
We're practicing for Robbie Burns day and i'm excited - Scottish music is so strange and fierce and unexpectedly accented - and i am really enjoying working hard on my own playing instead of forcing recalcitrant scholars to scrape their bows across miniature strings, and wish wish wish i could just grab it and have a blast...
Now i get to do both, and my children's playing is more fun for me, too, having my own outlet...
Anyway, i got home at 9 p.m. and i still have workboxes to pack, so i asked T for a short workout - he found one that was a half hour, then a 20 minute - i knew tabatas were next on his list (16 minutes!) - so i said "Can i just row?" - i don't have the patience and motivation to allow myself to go upstairs and change - i just want to work out, to sweat, to get into my pjs and maybe read a few pages of "Girl with the Dragon Tattoo" before bed...

So he said "as much as you can row in 10 minutes". I figured i wouldn't get a better offer, so jumped on and worked SO HARD! And this is how much i can do in 10 minutes - 1990 m - not bad! Hooray!
Getting back into homeschooling after a super fun visit to my sister's for Thanksgiving (and a field trip and the Walk to Remember) was kind of a let down for the children, so i'd better go get packed and ready for tomorrow... We have nothing tomorrow, then storyteling workshops on Thursday and dentist appointments on Friday... so it's one of those weeks that you just try to power through and remember to smile occasionally... especially to cute little babies... |
