The blahs??? Already???

I didn't really do school with William at all this week.  Unless you count letting him watch "Stanley" and "The Revolution," which sometimes I might.....but not for an entire week.  I think it's way too early in the school year to have the blahs, but I've definitely got them.  Just feeling overwhelmed with everything and school's taken a back seat to keeping my head above water in all of my non-school responsibilities.  And technically I school year round, so the beginning of the year doesn't stand out so much.

Anyway, Crystal did Monday and Thursday school this week, and took the boys swimming multiple times.  I really need to make sure I don't start to lean on her too much, and also that I let her know how much I appreciate her help.  So I've pretty much resigned myself to this week's being a complete wash. We'll try again next week...maybe without the blahs.

YOu mentioned that you didn't take a break and you schooled year round. I used to do that too till I realized I needed the break. Maybe you should take one. Don't let what your friends do dictate what you need.

I would do what others did but realized I needed to do something for me. That's hard being a homeschool mom. Trust me the kids won't fall behind. Just offer educational materials for them and let them school themselves for awhile. Don't have a set schedule just have fun. Do some field trips.

It all works out in the end.

God Bless,

I appreciate your advice. I guess I wasn't fully clear. I didn't mean we don't take breaks, just that it's hard to get excited about a "new school year" when we're not starting a new curriculum and we don't ever really stop schooling. I am sometimes forced to take breaks because of my work, so we school year round to try to make up for that, and also because he usually enjoys it and works well with the routine. But it also gives us the option of taking a day or two off. But we just took 2 weeks off in July and went on a nice vacation with my family. I guess the blahs are just unpredictable!
