Oct. 4, 2008 - Getting Started

So I have read many blogs and always wondered if I could find time for that too....hmm...time...well,we will give it a try anyway.

My parents were on vacation recently.  I thought it would be neat while they are away to be able to "check in" and "see" what we are up to...so here we go...neither professional nor proper I'm sure...but a try...

We are just the typical homeschooling family (I think?).  We have Mary (8), Alison (6), Nathan (3) and Smauel (15 months).

We have recently made curriculum changes...sound familiar...HA HA....we are using Heart of Dakota's Beyond Little Hearts for His Glory with the girls.  I am sticking with Horizons math and we are still doing our own spelling.  Other than that we are going to go with all HOD's recommendations.  I am "pondering" their spelling by dictation method for next year...we are doing the dictation part.  I'm just reluctant to let go of the spelling programs we are doing.  Alison is using Spelling Workout at a rate of one lesson per day...seriously!  I will have to slow her down when we get to book B. I switched Mary to Sequential Spelling and I am happy, so far, with those results.  HOD ties together history, science, and His Word.  What I have heard from my girls in discussions over different readings has been remarkable.  I'm hooked!!  I feel like I'm filling their brains and their hearts!
