I really enjoyed having a little girlfriend come over to play with Michalina and Sophia.

We had a great time playing out back, picking flowers in the garden, and doing some coloring before lunch.

She wants some crabapples...
She tries to jump for them...
She pushed the stroller up to a tree...
She puts the crabapples in her little pocket...As she adds she moves the stroller to the next tree and the next...

• Jun. 6, 2008 - Wheat?

Posted in Musings
My daughter Michalina calls all wild grass that has gone to seed 'wheat ' and tells me how she's gonna make them into flour so she can bake bread.

Here is a pretty view of a nearby field of straw. It really is pretty certain times of the year! We also can see the ducks and geese fly over the wooded area in the fall on their way south.

• Oct. 29, 2007 - Luke and his 'friend' Imagination

Posted in Musings

Kitty all curled up

Today Luke was sitting on the bed very quiet. I peeked in and asked if everything was okay he said

"Yes, I am just spending some time with my imagination."

"I haven't been spending enough time with my imagination."

I of course let him have some special time thinking up stories and pictures.

• Oct. 9, 2007 - Little Ducks in a Row

Posted in Musings
I have a picture I framed when I was yet single of a girl leading little ducks all in a row. I always day dreamed of when I would have children (my little ducks).

After six pregnancies and 4 children in my care I now understand more of the complexities of parenting.

Number one you can't choose the kind of children you are given.

Number two you can never imagine how much work goes into learning to parent well.

Number three you can never know what other circumstances will be thrown into the loop!

Number four you can never fathom the depths of love that spring forth for your flesh and blood.

I am sure I could think of many more points that we just never know until we are there in the midst of our calling.

My children are more like little rabbits in a meadow ;^)

• Oct. 4, 2007 - Thanks

Posted in Musings
"God did make the people that made our cereal, mom?"

Timmy (6) while giving thanks for our breakfast made yet another profound statement!

Things that we use in our home were made by people that GOD made!

God gives us good gifts and people that he loves make many of the things that help us.

Thank You God

Thank You People

• Jul. 23, 2007 - Just a Quick Hello

Posted in Musings
I have to bake this morning and well, I am already up late but I wanted to tell any viewer that. I am finding blogging rewarding work. I will admit that I have baby books for all my children but I have never filled out any entries on their pages. With my first baby the afternoon I tried to work on a page my son was three months old and had his first roll off the bed I'd left him sleep on. The guilt the first time mother feels over these incidents is tremendous!! Thus writers' block. Finally I added a little info and discovered the binding of the named brand baby book started pulling away already so it had to be returned for a new one. Then moves, another pregnancy, more moves, and life as we knew it was just overwhelming no time to relax and be creative.
Mind you I always used to keep diaries when I was single they were my life line ... my way of praying to the Lord about many, many things.

So I tried blogging a year ago and liked it okay but was overwhelmed by learning basic computer skills.

Ended up deleting my first attempts cuz I messed up the html layout.

Now forced to get over the hurdles I find it so rewarding especially now that I added the photos.

Please take a look at my family most entries now have at least one photo added!

And I have a lot more to add in the next week.

Happy Blogging,
Jacinda

• Jul. 22, 2007 - An article of Nonsense

Posted in Musings
Excuse me for adding a totally secular article to this blog BUT once in a very great while I like to try to see where the world's standards come from and frankly it's always the same... the old serpent himself is still whispering in many ears.

http://www.slate.com/id/2097913/

Prayer, How we need to pray for ourselves and the world around us. We honestly border on an isolationist lifestyle. I don't choose it willingly accept it just is our current situation. The Lord is teaching me through a lot of the loneliness and giving deeper conviction to follow Him through this world.

I feel so dirty after reading the garbage that some of these articles try to feed others.

Time to go and read some truth in God's word!

• Jun. 27, 2007 - Musings of a Little Homeschooler

Posted in Musings

" He's not just a worm he's my friend, mommy! "

Michalina is 2 1/2 and takes in a lot of what is going on in the home. She loves being right in the midst of everything.

Two really cute things she's said lately are " Mommy ' poopa', 'poopa' ! " in reference to the pupae stage of a bugs life! She keeps getting out the books her brothers are reading. She looks at all the pages and comments. This week it's been bugs last week it was eagles

She also is learning names for the birds she will call out SPARROW when a little bird comes to eat her bread crumbs.

She is developing such a good verbal communication that she learns songs and Bible verses very well. Frankly the boys weren't so advanced verbally at this age and are just in the last year or two expressing themselves better.

• Jun. 15, 2007 - Time

Posted in Musings
The understanding of time and the young child is sometimes humorous. Last year when Luke was almost 6 we had this conversation.Everyday for the last month I'd been explaining that " it's coming up ( his birthday) but not here yet " I was telling him about how after we get the bunk beds refinished and put together he was always gonna be sleeping upstairs in his own room after all " You are 6 now, Luke!" Well he just teared up and said "Oh, did I miss my B-day?" I must keep my comments literal!
