We just got back from our trip to Georgia. First we went to Shreveport, LA. We had seen the Sci-port Discovery Center. The only thing bad about the place was that there was a guy doing a presentation and IT TOOK HIM A LONG TIME TO FINISH. There were tons of kids running around. Other than that, it was a very nice museum.
The next day we went all the way to Atlanta. We were going to have dinner with my Aunt Marilyn, but we got stuck in traffic for two hours. Later, it turned out that a truck ran over a car and three people died. The next day we were able to go with Aunt Marilyn to the Georgia Aquarium. We were able to see the whole aquarium, but the second we finished the last exhibit, we were hungry. So we had planned to meet Aunt Juanita at the OK Cafe. Its name came from the book To Kill a Mockingbird. They had very nice food there, but they put too much salt on Aunt Juanita's pot roast and on Mom's fried green tomatoes. After that, we saw the Martin Luther King tombstone. We were looking for his statue, but apparently, they didn't have it. Later, when we were looking at Morehouse, Clark, and Spelman Universities, we found the statue at Morehouse. Later that night, we went to Aunt Marilyn's house and we had dinner. I was able to load my pictures on my Uncle Bobby's computer.
The next day was Aunt Juanita's retirement party. 26 people spoke, and that did not include speakers who showed up as a surprise. The reception was very, very boring besides the cake with white chocolate-covered strawberries on it. She hired me as her cameraman because she told the people that they could hire somebody and she would pay for it, but for some reason they didn't. Later that night, as my sister said on her blog, I think Aunt Juanita misunderstood my mom when she said that we had a big hotel room. We thought that 4 relatives were coming over, but she brought 4 relatives and 5 or more friends. We're planning to go back later this month to help her clean up all her boxes.
After that, we went to Aunt Mamie's house. She had tons of DVDs that she didn't watch. We watched The Devil Wears Prada, Open Season, and Bridge to Teribithia. Later we went to my cousin Reita's house, and surprisingly, we saw her daughter Melani there, and her new daughter Abigail Rose. We got to swim inside cousin Reita's pool and then we came back home.
A few days after we got home we saw our Cousin Lauren. She spent the 4th of July with us. We went to a fireworks show, but a giant grocery store sign was in the way : (. We could not see the center of the fireworks' display. |
