There are three hundred and sixty-four days when you might get un-birthday presents ... and only one for birthday presents, you know. - Lewis Carroll

The Need...

- 1.1 billion people (approximately one in six people on earth) lack access to a clean water supply.

Every 15 seconds, a child dies from a water related disease.

Sudan is one of the countries with the highest number of people with access to only contaminated water - 12.3 million

The lack of water in Darfur plays a part in worsening military conflict in the region as various groups compete for water resources.

The Resources...

The average American uses 100 to 176 gallons of water at home each day.

Pacific Institute estimates that total consumer expenditures for bottled water are approximately $100 billion per year.

Bottled water can cost as much as $10 per gallon, which is twice the price of gasoline.

In 2001, Americans spent over $61 billion on soft drinks.

The Project...

- $1 provides one year of clean water for a person in Sudan

Give up one drink

Give one dollar

Give the gift of a well in Sudan

Make a difference with a dollar. http://www.dollarforadrink.org/

I read about this organization and it really changed my perspective and made me realize how blest I am to have water so available.  The Reblution has agreed to match donations up to a total of $1,000, so if you feel led to make a donation please leave a comment on their blog http://www.therebelution.com, so that they can make the same donation.

In Him,

Nina
