A trip to Koorong

Posted in General

I have been wanting to get out to Koorong for some time now.  Our local store is about an hour away...if we use the toll roads.  As the 3 older kids were in FDC today and Michael was working (more on that later) Naomi and I took a little "day trip" and spent a few hours browsing...and buying.

I could spend a lot of money at Koorong, but I exercised my self-control and only purchased a few things:

I have been wanting to get a kids devotional for some time and I look at a few different ones today.  When I was doing some online research, I had come across a boys devotional bible that I thought would be good for Elijah.  I had a closer look at it during our time at Koorong, but it just wasn't 'right'.  I kept coming back to The Beginners Bible Book of Devotions "My Time with God", so that's what I got.  It's written for kids 6 and under, so it's perfect for my crew.

I also wanted to purchase a Bible to reference to during our devotional times - one that was written in an easier language (I personally like my NKJ - although I often reference many versions) and was more than just bible stories.  So I picked up an NIrV (New International readers Version - [for Early Readers]) Adventure Bible.  It's a kids study bible for kids aged 6-9.  Okay, my kids are younger than that, but it's going to last a long time and get a lot of use!  And I don't need to stop and explain the language all the time.  That will come later!

Another purpose-purchase was the music CD.  I wanted to get some music to help the kids with scripture memorisation.  I stumbled across "Hide 'em in your heart" (volume 2) with Steve Green (Bible Memory Melodies).  It has 21 songs on it and all of them are straight out of scripture.  Perfect.

My other 2 purchases were purely spontaneous.  I was looking in the 'markdowns' section and found "Secrets to Getting More Done in Less Time" by Donna Otto.  Seeing it was only $5.00 I thought it would be a helpful read.  I also picked up a bookmark for Michael (not pictured).

When I had planned our trip out, I didn't know that Koorong was having a 20% off everything in store sale.  God is so good!

Looks like some great purchases!... Steve Green is one of my Mom's favorite artists. We've seen him in concert when he did the Young Messiah Tour and got his autograph too! (Along with all the other singers, like Sandi Patti, 4 Him, Steven Curtis Chapman, and others)
