Book Review

I just finished reading Pocketful of Pinecones by Karen Andreola. I LOVED THIS BOOK!! It is a mixture of a story based in the 1930's and a nature study guide. It is written in a journal entry type of way by a new to homeschooling mother of two. They are your simple everyday type of family and as the story progresses you learn about their trials and feel like you are sharing the concerns of this mother. It is a beautiful story. I decided to read the book thru the first time myself to glean the ideas for the nature studies but I loved it soo much that I plan to reread it to my children. The little boy in the story starts out self conscious about his nature drawings and the mother talks about how she and her husband tried to help. This was so perfect because I have the same problem with my 9 yr old son. He has such an awesome talent for drawing that comes naturally to him but he is always comparing himself to others and gets down when he feels his drawings are not as good.
If you want to read a simple sweet story, and especially if you are or are planning to incorporate nature studies, this is truly a must read. :) ENJOY!!

To find out more about the catagories, log in, select "new entry", select "template" then select "template guide" it's up at the top. It gives some general settings and tags. My old style of template came with the catagories already on it and so when I switched templates, I just copied it over. LOL! But the template guide looks like it will give you the info you need for that. As for pictures, you first have to save the picture to your computer, then you go to "Photos & Files at the first screen after you log on. Hit "photo Album" or "upload images" (whichever it shows), Then it may say "upload Images" again (I'm not sure since mine may be slightly different since I have stuff in it), After you select this, it will say "New File:" (blank) "Browse", Hit "Browse" that will take you to your computer and you can pull up your file. If you have saved it in "my document" then just highlight the file and hit "open", then you will see a file name where there was the blank. Hit "upload". It will now be in your Homeschool Bloggers files ready to be used. Click on the image so you can get the file link. Here is the html code that you need: <img src="link name"></a> Just add the link name where I wrote "link name" and leave the quotes in the code. Then always preview it!!!! I know it sounds like a lot and looks overwelming, but it gets a lot easier as you go. This blog site is a really friendly place and even though things sometimes don't run as smooth as I'd like, the advantages I feel out weighs the disadvantages. If you need anymore help or if I need to explain something better, please don't hesitate to ask. If I can't help you, I have several friends here that better at this than I am and they are always willing to help out.
