As the days are progressing onward, and my son is continuing to heal (praise the Lord!), I am becoming increasingly aware that we will have to be getting back to a routine, real soon! Funny how kids behaviors take a serious nosedive when they have no structure.
Structure and routine have proven themselves over and over in our family to be a necessity. While the sounds of my children arguing and disagreeing is understandably a wonderful sound now (because it means we are all well), I'm thinking we need to have some direction and boundaries put back into place. So today, despite the looks of "I can't believe you're so cruel Mom", we began doing our basic chores and school again. Just light stuff, nothing major, hey I'm a nice Mom, right?!! Well, it was like turning the wheels of a rusty bicycle, but we did it, and I even think my kids have forgiven me! Despite the moans and groans, I do believe that my kids "get" the fact that we need a routine.
In addition to our routine going down the tubes the last month, the organization in my home rolled down right along with it. Isn't it amazing how fast things become declared disaster areas when Mother's not around? As of yesterday, the pantry looked as if a pack of wild animals had feasted in it. My desk area in the kitchen has become a major dumping ground for literally everything. Even though laundry is caught up, just ask my kids to find a shirt or pair of pants in their rooms, they can't! There are just a few things! Thanks to the amazing and continual help I receive from my Mom, I can cross "Pantry Organization" off my list.
So, if you'll bear with me, I'd like to use my blog as a organizational notebook to help me complete these projects:
Desk Area
Medicine Cabinet
Pantry
Utensil Drawer
Toys/Media in Family Room
Son's Clothes
Daughter's Clothes
School Room*
*Right now we will be doing our light school upstairs because my son cannot do stairs yet, but my goal is to get it ready to start back into regular school by February 11th.
I will be posting some before and after pictures as I complete these projects. Hopefully this will inspire and motivate me to get it done! I think my legs and arms are feeling a little rusty too!
