Award Ceremony!

Posted in Awards

Writer2b at Findings has blessed me with the honor of being chosen for the Arte y Pico award. Its creator says this award is “dedicated to many who nourish and enrich the spirit and creativity.” Writer2b choose me for being a "homeschooling artist".  What a beautiful thing to be called!  I am so honored by these kind words, thank you so much!

Part of receiving the award is passing it on to 5 other bloggers.  There are numerous blogs that came to my mind and I wish I could pass it on to all of them, but here are the five I chose:

Julie at Forty Acres, A Husband, and Three Kids is one of my newest blog friends, and she has truly been an inspiration to get to know!  She is definitely an "artist of the heart".  Her writing style comes straight from her heart and is full of beautiful thoughts and sweet inspiration.  Julie and I are "kindred spirits" in our love of God's creation in nature.

Cindy at On Our Journey Westward has been a best friend of mine for years and I have been blessed immeasureably from this!  Cindy is a phenomenal "teaching artist", full of creativity and inspiring ideas.  Cindy's love of teaching is contagious to say the least, and she is passionate about sharing this love with others.  What a blessing you are my friend!

Jamie at Life and Love in Rose Cottage to me has been a "artist of words and photos."  She has an absolutely beautiful blog in which she blesses all those who visit with her wise and artistic words and vividly stunning photography.  Her words have brought me to tears at times with their wisdom.  And her photos have brought beauty to my day.

Jennifer at 317 Zephaniah Way is another best friend of mine for years and she is most definitely an "artist of sharing His heart".  Her inspiring love for our Heavenly Father radiates through her writings as she shares her heart openly.  She has very wise words and teachings and shares with great passion.  Jennifer and I have very similar homeschooling philosophies and the Lord has lead us down a dual path together in our discoveries.  Jennifer's motto is "Be brave, you were made for this!"  And that you are my friend!

Kim at From His Treasuries is another beautiful person I've gotten to know over blogland.  She is an "artist of creative hands-on homeschooling".  This Mom really gets her hands into learning with her children!  Again, something near and dear to my heart!  She has a gift of making it real and alive to her children, and she's been a terrific inspiration to me to continuing doing this with my children.  Also, her love of God and His Creation are illuminated so clearly through her blog.

Thank you all for being my friend and such an inspiration to me, and for sharing your amazing artistry.  May you all be blessed by His greatness!

What a nice award and how eloquently you wrote about me. I'm not so sure I deserve such sweet words! But, I certainly appreciate it and know that you deserved the award, too! In fact, if you hadn't passed it on to me, you would have been the first person I would've passed it on to. :o)

Thank you! I'll pass it on soon.

Love, Cindy

About Me

Welcome to our blog home! My name is Melissa and I am a homeschool mom of three beautiful blessings ages 11, 9, and 2; and blessed wife to my husband for 15 years. Our homeschooling style is eclectic, but we love Charlotte Mason's educational philosophies and learning the natural, everyday hands-on life way! We especially see daily opportunities to learn and grow closer to God through His amazing creation in nature!

Nature Notes

•11/21/08
The artic chill is on! Temps haven't been out of the 30's for days. Brrrr! The woods in back have been cracking as if moaning with pain from the cold. But already, the beauty of winter is emerging as well: birds have been overly plentiful at the feeders, the sky is so clear the stars are like shining beacons in the night, the morning dew is frozen into millions of crystals on the grass that reflect the rising sun, and now that we have a clear view into the woods again we are daily seeing wild turkeys and deer passing by.

Close encounters of the "chipmunk" kind! Hannah was out on the patio watching the birds at the feeders and in a split second a little chipmunk ran around the corner obviously unaware of her presence. That was until he came face to toes with her in a standoff! Then, cheeks puffed full of bird seed, he proceeded to zip like lightning right between her legs and dashed into safety. Hannah exclaimed, "Mom, I can't breathe, that was so cool!"

Our first snowfall!! The kids and I couldn't wait to wrap up warm and get outside for nature time. The flakes were so big and wet AND yummy! We had such fun dancing and spinning around in our winter wonderland!

Scripture Notes

For since the creation of the world God's invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature—have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that men are without excuse. ~ Romans 1:20

But ask the animals, and they will teach you, or the birds of the air, and they will tell you; or speak to the earth, and it will teach you, or let the fish of the sea inform you. Which of all these does not know that the hand of the LORD has done this? ~ Job 12:7-9

Quotable
"Years hence, when the children are old enough to understand that science itself is in a sense sacred and demands some sacrifices, all the 'common information' they have been gathering until then, and the habits of observation they have acquired, will form a capital groundwork for a scientific education. In the mean- time, let them consider the lilies of the field and the fowls of the air." --Charlotte Mason, Vol.1, p. 63
