friend of ours with one son decided that she wanted to organize a
homeschool art class to keep herself accountable to teach her son some
art skills. The other eleven kids in her class are benefitting
from her commitment to her son. It is also an opportunity for him
to be with his friends which is especially important for him as an only
child. My kids are in the class too.
Rosemary, the teacher, is using the book Draw Squad by Mark Kistler as the basis for her lesson plans. The kids are learning some basic skills to make their drawings more 3-D. They also have homework for the class and I usually review the skills with the kids and model how to apply the ideas to drawing other objects.
