Another Feild trip
|
After reading "The Hiding Place" by Corrie Ten Boom we decided to take another trip to Washington. This time we visited the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum . We enjoyed the museum. Madison spent most of her time in "Daniels Story", which is geared towards children. Savanna went through the whole museum with me. They learned so much and it made Madison very sad. Savanna was touched by it all, especially when we met an actual Holocaust Survivor. Nesse Godin is a survivor and a volunteer at the museum. She was bright and cheerful while breifly telling us her story, and showing us a scar she received from being beat. She preached love and how she survived by the grace of the Lord above. While we were at the gift shop we found the movie the The Hiding Place and bought it to watch. The girls couldn't wait to watch the movie, which was very sad, of course. They followed it much better having read the book. It really touched them. I hope they never forget what they saw and learned! We have started reading "A Christmas Carol" for our holiday studies. We have a local theater in town that is performing this play, so we hope to go see it in December. This is a hard book for the girls to understand because of the wording, but we summarize what we read so they can undrstand it. So I am hoping the play will help it all come together. This is homeschooling at it's greatest! Seeking Him, Missy |
