Botany ExperimentsOnce upon a time, I was concerned about doing Botany during the winter. But, never fear.... MFW had it covered for me. What began as a bean in a plastic bag became a semester long science project that outshined my expectations. The tiny bean grew in the bag. It sprouted and we had to transplant it into a container with potting soil. The container had to fit on the window sill since it was winter. I found an old mason jar and it worked great. Because the plant was in a mason jar, we decided to name the plant Charlotte. Charlotte grew. She had beautiful leaves. She flowered. A pod was growing and I thought WOW! we did this in the winter and everything turned out fine. The children have learned so much from this simple bean. It was the weekend of our homeschool convention. After I returned that night, I entered in my kitchen. There was the mason jar on the counter. A trail of potting soil with the shape of cat paws in the soil. I looked at my husband. He told me -- we tried all weekend to keep the cat away. Our cat ate Charlotte Mason!!!! down to the stem. It does make me wonder though.... do other people have this kind of science "cat"astrophes? Leave a Comment { Last Page } { Page 42 of 45 } { Next Page } |
