Oh No! Not a Sand Monster
There was a man. His name was Peter. Peter owned a park. The park’s name was Center Lake Park. The park was so much fun Peter just had to play with the children. Peter loved to swim. So, one day he was swimming, when all of the sudden he was pulled under! When Jacob, the lifeguard, saw this he was going to dive in after Peter. But he was too scared. Jacob called Scooby and the gang. “Would you guys like to take on a mystery?” asked Jacob. “What kind of monster is it?” asked Fred. “Well, I don’t know. Peter was just pulled under the water,” said Jacob. “Well, I would have to talk to Scooby, Shaggy, Velma, And Daphne,” said Fred. “Okay, if you want to take the mystery just come over to the park,” said Jacob. “Okay, bye,” said Fred. “Bye,” said Jacob. “Do you want to do a mystery?” asked Fred. “That would be fun,” said Velma. “I think it is groovy,” said Daphne. “What about you and Scooby?” asked Fred. “Well, I guess it is okay for Scooby and me,” said Shaggy. “What kind of thing will we be looking for?” asked Velma. “Well, I don’t know. All Jacob said was that Peter just got pulled under the water,” said Fred. “Maybe we should use Jacob’s boat,” said Daphne. “That’s a great idea, Daphne,” said Fred. “Scary monster here we come,” said Shaggy. On the way to the park Scooby saw a very pretty dog. Scooby combed back his hair and stood up straight. When the other dog saw Scooby she just turned her head. Scooby did not like this! When they got there Jacob said, “I am glad you came.” “May we get right to work?” asked Fred. “By all means,” said Jacob. “Okay, may we use your boat?” asked Fred. “Yes, you may use my boat. Peter was swimming in the middle of the lake when he was pulled under,” said Jacob. So, Fred, Velma, Daphne, Shaggy, and Scooby took Jacob’s boat and went to the middle of the lake. They were looking into the water when Fred said, “Look at the size of those ripples, guys.” “Wow, that gives me goose bumps,” said Daphne. “Holy cow,” said Velma. “That thing must be huge,” said Shaggy. Then all of the sudden there was a huge splash. Then there it was. A monster that looked just like sand and it was about ten feet tall!!! “Like, let’s get out of here,” said Daphne. Fred and Shaggy rowed as fast as they could. When they got back to shore they told Jacob all about the sand monster. “I hope Peter is all right,” said Jacob. “So do I,” said Velma. “Let’s get some shut-eye and tomorrow we’ll see if we have any ideas,” said Fred. In the morning they were trying to get some ideas when Velma said, “Maybe we should use Jacob’s boat again.” “That’s a good idea,” said Fred. They all got into the boat and Fred and Shaggy rowed to the middle of the lake. They all looked into the water when Velma said, “What is that?” She pointed to something black. “I think it is oil,” said Fred. “How could oil get all the way out here?” asked Velma. “I don’t now but we are going to find out,” said Fred. “That’s one clue,” said Shaggy. “Maybe we should get some diving suits,” said Daphne. “That’s a good idea,” said Fred. “Well, I don’t like it. You can see that the oil spells DANGER!” said Shaggy. “We are still going to use diving suits,” said Fred. Shaggy and Fred rowed back to shore. When they got there Scooby wasn’t there! Fred said, “Get back in the boat. Get back in the boat.” They all got back in and Fred rowed as fast as he could to get to the middle of the lake. When they got there all they saw was a brown paw that went under the water very fast! “No!” said Shaggy, as he jumped into the water. “No, Shaggy,” said Fred, trying to reach for Shaggy. After a little while bubbles came up out of the water! “I am going to jump in after them!” said Fred. Just then there was a huge splash! It was Shaggy and Scooby! Then there were ripples in the water! “Jump in. There are ripples coming up fast!” said Fred. So, they jumped in. This caused the boat to tip over! “Now, why did you have to jump in?” asked Fred. “Well, I would stop talking and start swimming. I think the sand monster wants the lake to himself,” Daphne said, as she pointed to the sand monster! When they got to shore they went to the store and bought some diving suits. “Oh, I forgot to tell you this because we were so afraid of the sand monster. That monster has a cave!” said Shaggy. “What kind of cave?” asked Velma. “Well, I can’t describe it. It was huge! Since it is dark I will show you tomorrow,” said Shaggy. “Okay,” said Velma. In the morning everyone took a shower and put diving suits on. When they got to the lake there was someone fishing. They swam over to him and said, “You should not be out here. There is a sand monster and it might get you.” “Well, I am not scared,” said the fisherman. He continued fishing. “What is your name?” asked Daphne. “My name is John,” said the fisherman. “Well, it was nice to meet you but we really have to go,” said Fred, as he and the gang started to swim under the water. Then Shaggy showed them the cave. Then the sand monster came out of the cave! Everyone tried to hide but Shaggy couldn’t move! Everyone else swam around the monster. They could not believe their eyes. There was silver! They swam in more and they saw tools! They had a plan! They put up a net and got Shaggy to get the monster. When the monster hit the net Fred let go of the top. They got him. Lets unmask this monster. It was John the fisherman! “He used that sand monster suit to scare people away from the lake. He did that because there was silver in that cave!” said Fred. “Yes, and I would have gotten away with it if it weren’t for you meddling kids!” said John. “Wait, where is Peter?” asked Velma. “Well, I guess I could tell you. He is at my house,” said John. So, they went to John’s house and they found Peter with a bag over his head! John went to jail and Peter was having fun swimming and playing with the children again!
