Tips for helping children (and their folks) get to sleep

Some ideas for you (in no particular order):

1. melatonin
2. vitamin D / magnesuim supplementation
3. homeopathics
4. positive reinforcement plan (401 ways to get your kids to work at home)
5. regular bedtime ritual (can't be just what you are doing now), reading works for some
6.  include evening prayer (pray them to sleep) and/ or late night family devotions (sure to make them really tired .... )
7.  chamomile (sleepytime) or "bedtime" tea
8.  lullaby music (no tv)
9.  the sleep book (I got it from the library once)
10 of course, daytime fresh air and plenty of exercise (hard work)
11.  the dreaded (for me)  - consistency (of routine rather than exact time)
12.  take care of mom so mom (and dad) so mom won't be crabby  : )
13.  watch what they eat close to bedtime (ie no chocolate, ice cream, etc)
14.  chiropractic, accupressure, massage, tapping
15.  be flexible, have a long term vision

(I posted this as a comment on another blog and thought I might post it here in case it may be of help to someone)

Alternative Cancer Treatments and Vitamins K and D

Here are some links  for information on Vitmin K, Vitamin D and alternative cancer treatment.  Read all of the literature you can.  You have an opportunity to make the most of the early years to influence your children's health.    Please actually research these vitamins - don't just say to yourself ' I know, I know'.  There is a good chance you don't know and you may be surprised enough to do something about it.

Dr. Holick did an excellent presentation on the university channel.  You just had to ignore the blatant allusions to evolution.  But he did make them amusing.

How Goot Changed Our Lives

I have used garlic and garlic oil for quite some time now as a healer for many things. You will enjoy this article

http://www.beeyoutiful.com/how-goot-changed-our-lives/

Jacque Dixon also has an article on Goot on her page.

Use garlic, it really works.  Learn to crush a bulb of it and add it to your chicken soup just before eating.  Especially for a cold with sinus.  Put it on an abcessed tooth.  It is an excellent pain reliever.

It always makes me praise God when I think of how awesome He is and how He created all things like this for us.

Take care,

Michele

Homeopathy for Autism

There is much to say on this topic but,,

I have been using BIOCHEMIC PHOSPHATES by Hyland's for quite awhile as Toby's behavior has become more agressive and he is more irritable (this is putting this mildly at times).   With one or more doses of these, I usually find it helps him to relax.  I have also used the "Stress" formula by another brand with decent results.

I also use it for Coleman and Emily when it seems appropriate.

What treatments do you turn to when your children are sick with a virus?

Tylenol is a very last resort for me.  So are antibiotics (Actually I was only forced to use these once with my four youngest.)

I tend to use herbal tinctures or compound remedies made for kids, herbal teas, supplements, homeopathic remedies and alot of rest and fluids.

There is so much information on natural remedies available at our fingertips today, it is a shame to turn first to big pharma and now with the government itself issuing warnings against over the counter medications for children, we need to learn everything we can.

Perhaps I will begin a series of posts on this ...

May the Lord bless our children,

Michele

About Me

We are a family with 6 children, 4 at home, one with non verbal autism, and lots of animals. We are avid readers. We have sports fans and video game fans and animal fans and a fan of pink kitties and a fan of e-toys. Did I mention we love to read? We are learning to work together, to put the Lord first and to have patience and peace. I hope you are blessed in some way by your visit.
