New Blog for our Contender's of the Faith and Keepers Clubs

I thought it would be easier to keep a separate blog of our activities. So here it is now.

You can view pictures of things we have done in the past. Things we are currently working on and things we plan to do in the future.

Doodling Day

In our Keepers' class we are learning scrapbooking basics. Here are some pictures of our day of doodling. I showed various examples of how to spice up your name and other words.
The girls did a great job and were very creative!

Very creative in adding flowers.

Keepers Cake Decorating

Last week we had a field trip to WalMart. The Bakery was kind enough to do a cake decorating demonstration for us.

Today we got to try it for ourselves in class. We got to experiment with different icing tips. It was alot of fun decorating the cupcakes and they tasted great too!

We are doing our Fishing Unit right now. Dh came in and talked with the class. He said the most important thing to remember out fishing is to have a smile! HAVE FUN! They boys learned about different types of rods, reels, lures, different types of fish and what they like to eat. They learned about safety. He gave each boy a bag of lures and a Bass Master Magazine to take home. We have a real fishing trip scheduled later this month to give the boys hands on practice.

WildLife Rehab

Today in our Keepers and Contender's classes at Co-Op we had a special guest. She takes in wild animals that need rehabilitation.  We learned so much.

Here are a few common things people believe but are not true:

If you pick up a fledgling (baby bird) the mother will not have anything to do with it anymore. (Not True.)

If they are in danger you can pick them up and take them in the house, and then return them where you found them once the danger is gone. (Of course children should never pick up any wild animal, they should go get an adult.)

Remember ABC Anything But COW! Never feed any wild animal cow milk. (Or kayro syrup!)

We also learned that baby oppossums are about the size of a kidney bean when they are born.

The Leopard Tortise will live about 140 years!

Keepers of the Home and Contender's of the Faith Clubs

We began our new club year on August 2. We had a roller skating get to know you night. It was alot of fun. Even though it had been about 20 years since I had really skated. I only fell once so it wasn't too bad.

We did not have a big turn out, but no matter those that came had a really good time and were really glad they did it!

The age of my groups are 5-8 years old. So many had never skated before either. It was alot of fun seeing them willing to try new things! I can't believe I forgot my camera! Next time I will be more prepared.

We begin our CO-OP club classes this Thursday.  Right now we have 15 girls in the Keepers Class and 12 boys in the Contender's class.  So I decided for our first class we would do some getting to know you ice breakers.

For the Boys I have planned to ask the question: If you could be any animal, what would you be and why?

(This also ties in with the fact that we will be studying Wildlife for the first 5 weeks.)

For the girls I will ask: "If you could be any living thing besides a human what would you be? and why?" Now we will be studying WildFlowers for the first 5 weeks. But I thought it might be hard for such young girls to be able to think of very many kinds of flowers, since I can only probably name 5 off the top of my head. But anyway this will get the ball rolling.

Of course I plan to talk about my 3 B's. Be Kind, Be respectful, Be obedient. (Since these are the rules we will be going by in my class!)
