 Jun. 13, 2007 - Goodies
I got some new goodies last night. On my way to take E to Boy Scouts, Beth (the midwife that I apprentice for) called me to say that Hobby Lobby was having a yarn sale. She was there buying out the store. I had been comparing prices of yarn from Hobby Lobby to Wal-Mart and found that not only does Hobby Lobby have a better selection, it also has better prices. So after dropping E off, I headed to Hobby Lobby. They had some yarn for $.64 a skien. Stuff that usually cost $5 a skien at Wal-Mart. This is what I bought:

I bought 6 skeins, a tape measure, and some modeling clay for K for less than $6. I want to actually make something for me using this yarn. I don't know what yet. If you have any suggestions, give me a link to the pattern.
BTW, I have been reading other knitter's blogs. I guess I am really just an amatuer. The serious knitter's buy all kinds of gorgeous, expensive yarns. I would really like to try some of those, but at this point I am going to have to stick with cheap.
When I went to pick up E, the leader was telling me that they still had tons of books left over from the yard sale.
This is a small sample of what I brought home.

I got a lot of books on homeschooling, some craft books, some books for the boys, and E.D. Hirch's book "What Your 4th Grader Needs to Know". I was going to buy that book, but free is even better.
Also I was going through my fabric stash recently. K found some red felt that he really liked. (His favorite color is red.) He asked me if I would make him some pajama bottoms with it. I am not a very experienced sewer mind you. I have made maybe 5 things since I bought my sewing machine 4 years ago. But I took his measurements and attempted to design my own pattern.

I made one leg too tight. Everything else came out pretty well. I still have enough fabric left over to try again, but as shorts this time. |
