Aug. 4, 2008 - Good Business Day/ Bad Business Day
Today started out great. I printed up a lot of the paperwork for client charts and notebooks. The lab at the local hospital has agreed to work with me. (Yea!) So I went by there to pick up some requisition forms and stuff to do blood draws. They were very nice and helpful. I got an appt. set up with a dr. that I am hoping will do some back up for me and give me standing orders for the medicines that I can't obtain on my own. That is my good news.
My bad news is this: I was supposed to go to a home visit for one of the clients that I am going to be assisting my former preceptor with. She forgot to tell me that she rescheduled it for today. So I missed it. Then my boyfriend's sil is pregnant. Every time I talk to her she changes her mind about whether she wants to use me and have a natural birth or go in for a repeat C-section. Last week we set up an appt. to do her prenatal this week. This week, she is ready to just have her repeat section. It is very frustrating for me. I wish that she would just make a decision.
And last of all, one of my fellow students hasn't passed her licensing exams yet. But she had some interested clients. She needs me to help her take on clients until she gets her license. I was all for that. Some of them are Amish. We went out there tonight to do a prenatal on one woman. They are not sure whether or not they want to hire us though. We went ahead and did the prenatal and I got some gas money for it. But I was really hoping that we would get hired for the whole thing tonight.
Hello! It's nice to meet you (so to speak) I was wondering if you had any advise as far as your schooling goes for becoming a midwife it's a real interest of mine and I'm debating on whether it would be a good carreer choice for me or not. If you have any advise I would greatly aprechiate hearing from you!

it is so nice to see you online again! I hope all goes well with your practice...I love the idea of having a midwife assisted birth...if I could only convince my husband we shoould have a 3rd child! I did two all natural births in the hospital in MO but there are no midwives there yet..some laws are changing but not much for the possiblity of actually highering a midwife and having her want practice....In NY it is common but I don't know if the birth has to take place in a hospital or not...good luck I hope you get lots of clients and have much success...all kinds of beautiful healthy babies
:D Thank you, the advise you gave was just what I needed. I've never really spoken to anybody who actually does mid wiving. The state that I live in has such strict law's on doing that, that it's just about impossible. Thank you though for coming by and telling me that.
