Those that know me, know that I am usually pretty laid back. This also applies to my Homeschooling as well. I am not an unschooler by any means, but I don't do school-at-home either. I am very eclectic in my approach. I really want my boys learn what is being taught rather than learn to pass a test. So I employ a lot of different methods to try and achieve this.
Unfortunately ps kids that Eman has been around have him convinced that because he homeschools he will not get into college. He is worried about not having a set curriculum. He talked to me the other night about achievement testing, SAT's, ACT's, GED's, transcripts, My very unstructured kid was practically begging me to do more structured schooling next year. He wanted next year's curriculum spelled out for him. When I told him that I had a game plan but that I didn't have everything completely worked out, he was very disturbed.
I find it kind of funny. On the other hand, should I be planning better? Isn't that what summer is for? |

OR you could help him to deal with his insecurities. Let him see which colleges are actively recruiting homeschoolers. Let him look at the research about it. See if he can meet any homeschoolers who went to college. Do some research on the famous homeschoolers throughout history, and their achievements.
