 Apr. 8, 2008 - Purses

Posted in Craft Craze
Lately I have been making a lot of purses.
This one I made for a little girl's birthday party.

Jeanna modeling the purse that I made for her.

This one I made for my boyfriend's sister-in-law.

Almost every day, I get comments on my purses.  Either the ones that I am making or the one that I use.  People want to pet them, know how to make them, or tell me that I should sell them.  I am almost done with making myself a new one.  I have improved a little on my original design.  I'll post that as soon as I can.

 Mar. 9, 2008 - Sweater Completed

Posted in Craft Craze
I finally finished the sweater that I was making for my sister.  I started it before Christmas, but it was a bit more work than I was expecting.   I got it done about 3 weeks late for her birthday, but sent it anyway.

I got the tie for my stepdad done.

I still don't have the sweater for my sister done.  I bought a back up gift just in case.

 Dec. 15, 2007 - Photo Time

Posted in Craft Craze
I finally had time to take and upload some photos.
First I want to show off the bookmarker that my secret sister sent.

Today I worked on some of my gifts.  I made these utility tool pouches for the men in my family.  They were very quick and easy to do.

I have also been working on a tie for my stepdad.  This is K modeling the work in progress.

And last of all, the sweater that I am working on for my sister.  I hope, hope, hope that I can get it done in time for Christmas.  Otherwise it will be a nice birthday gift.

 Nov. 30, 2007 - Snowflakes

Here are a few of the ornaments that I am making for Christmas presents.

This is one that I made with my new flower looms that my grandma sent me.  I meant to post those pictures as well.  Oops, maybe next time.

And these I crocheted and then stiffened with watered down Elmer's glue.

 Nov. 29, 2007 - Finished Projects

Posted in Craft Craze
I just wanted to show off some of the Christmas presents that I have been working on.

This hat I made on my yellow, round Knifty Knitter loom.

This is the scarf that I made on the long, purple loom.  Both are gifts for my stepmom.

I made several of these to give out.  They are from a dishcloth pattern.  I only had 1" rings instead of 2" though.  So they are a little on the small side.  Or they are a little large to use as ornaments.

I'll post more once I get the photos taken.

Nov. 9, 2007 - How did that happen?

Posted in Craft Craze
I was viewing some of my past entries.  I noticed that the pictures that I posted with them are no longer there.  It seems they have shifted postings or something.  Now I can't find the picture that I was looking for because it isn't with the post that it is supposed to be with.  Strange huh?

Also I will not be able to post the Christmas presents that I am working on for awhile.  My mom is actually reading my blog now.  And I am working on her presents.  If you have access to Ravelry, I will be posting them there.  If not, I will try to remember to post them after Christmas.  When I am done with hers, I will post the next ones that I will be working on.

 Oct. 29, 2007 - Christmas presents

Posted in Craft Craze
Do you agree that it is too early to talk about Christmas?  In most aspects I think so.  However since I am trying to make all my gifts this, I have already begun.  So far I am not doing that great.  I have two gifts for one person done.  I am in the middle of three others.  The most recent one done is this:

It is a cell phone purse.  The handle in the pattern was just a hand held one.  I wanted something that she (my little sister) could wear like a purse.

On Thursday, I caught a caterpillar while on a walk with a friend.  I didn't get a picture of it, because of the birth that we had.  By the time that I got home from the birth, this is what I found:

 Oct. 23, 2007 - Hodge Podge

Posted in Craft Craze
I'm just going to post a hodge podge of things & pictures of our lives.
First a purse that I just finished making.  This is actually for me, instead of for someone else.

I used the Knifty Knitter yellow round loom.  I also put  a little pouch on the inside to hold my cell phone.  This yarn is pretty, but very difficult to work with as anything other than an accent.

Next are some photos of my dad's visit.

My new stepmom w/ E.

My dad w/ K.

K had another football game Saturday.  They lost I think it was 23 - 14.  But this was the best game they played with their best efforts.

This is K dressing up Honey.

Oct. 11, 2007 - How Long Can I Get This to Work?

Posted in Craft Craze
Hi.  I am going to attempt to get caught up on my blogging.  If my computer holds out, I will attempt to visit as many of you as possible.

First, I wanted to post that my dad got married on the 29 th.  He is bringing his wife for me to meet next week.  (He is also going to help me fix my computer.)
I made them some dishcloths as a wedding present.  The photos didn't turn out very well, but I am going to post them anyway.

I don't know if you can see this, but it says Love on it.  Then below that is a heart and some vines.

This says Love on it as well.  I just realized that I posted the photo sideways.  You maybe able to see the L in the lower left corner.  The "o" is a heart.

The first two were knitted.  These I crocheted.  The back one was mostly a way to finish out the yarn.

 Jul. 10, 2007 - Pictures

Posted in Craft Craze
First, this is a doll that I made.  I knit the arms, legs, and body.  Then crocheted the hands, feet, head, and hair.  The original pattern didn't have a face or hair.  After my first attempt,
I decided to try putting beads on for a face.  Then I kind of made up the hair as I went.

We went to the beach on Sunday, with my sister and her family.  Here is a picture of them.

This is K.

And this is about the closest E ever got, while I had the camera out.  He is the blue blob way out there.

Oh, and I didn't get pictures because I forgot my camera, but the boys had dentist appointments today.  No cavities!  K needs to improve on brushing the back teeth.  E needs to floss more.  I asked the dentist about the overcrowding in K's mouth.  His adult teeth are having trouble coming in.  His baby teeth aren't falling out very fast and there is no room for the new ones to come in.  When he first started getting teeth, I could see that it was going to be a problem.  His teeth came in so close together.  The dentist said to wait another year, and if it is still a problem then he would probably have to go to the orthodontist.

Ali at Skeins Her Way is having another contest for some of that really pretty yarn.  Go here www.skeinsherway.com/index.html to tell her how old you were when you learned to knit.  Tell her that you saw the contest on my blog and she will enter me for a prize as well.

 Jun. 24, 2007 - Knitting Classes

Posted in Craft Craze

I took the kids to the library for the movie on Friday.  I bring my knitting  or crocheting along with me.  It is a perfect time to get some done and I can see what the kids are being shown.  An acquaintance of mine had brought her children to watch the movie.  She was really interested in what I was doing.  She mentioned that she was trying to learn and would like someone to teach her daughters.  She asked if I would do it and offered to pay me.  The little extra money would be nice and I think it might be fun.  However I have no idea how much to charge for teaching two little girls how to knit/ crochet.

 Jun. 13, 2007 - Goodies

Posted in Craft Craze
I got some new goodies last night.  On my way to take E to Boy Scouts, Beth (the midwife that I apprentice for) called me to say that Hobby Lobby was having a yarn sale.  She was there buying out the store.  I had been comparing prices of yarn from Hobby Lobby to Wal-Mart and found that not only does Hobby Lobby have a better selection, it also has better prices.  So after dropping E off, I headed to Hobby Lobby.  They had some yarn for $.64 a skien.  Stuff that usually cost $5 a skien at Wal-Mart.  This is what I bought:

I bought 6 skeins, a tape measure, and some modeling clay for K for less than $6.  I want to actually make something for me using this yarn.  I don't know what yet.   If you have any suggestions, give me a link to the pattern.
BTW, I have been reading other knitter's blogs.  I guess I am really just an amatuer.  The serious knitter's buy all kinds of gorgeous, expensive yarns.  I would really like to try some of those, but at this point I am going to have to stick with cheap.
When I went to pick up E, the leader was telling me that they still had tons of books left over from the yard sale.
This is a small sample of what I brought home.

I got a lot of books on homeschooling, some craft books, some books for the boys, and E.D. Hirch's book "What Your 4th Grader Needs to Know".  I was going to buy that book, but free is even better.

Also I was going through my fabric stash recently.  K found some red felt that he really liked.  (His favorite color is red.)  He asked me if I would make him some pajama bottoms with it.  I am not a very experienced sewer mind you.  I have made maybe 5 things since I bought my sewing machine 4 years ago.  But I took his measurements and attempted to design my own pattern.

I made one leg too tight.  Everything else came out pretty well.  I still have enough fabric left over to try again, but as shorts this time.

 Jun. 10, 2007 - A Little Bit of Everything

Posted in Craft Craze
Well, I am no longer watching J full time.  My boyfriend is receiving an inheritance.  His grandmother passed away about a month ago.  Because of this, he is working on restarting his lawn care business.  I am still watching him some.
My boyfriend got a taste of it this week as well.  Wednesday evening I went to deliver a baby and was gone almost 22 hours. He had all three boys during that time.   At least they were sleeping for a lot of that.

Because I was gone so much and then spent time catching up on sleep and other things my cleaning schedule is off.  I didn't mow or clean the bathroom  this week.  K and I just finished catching up on dishes.

I am going to be dog sitting for my sister for two weeks.  She has two beagles that are on their way as I type.

Also my sister got her orders.  She moves to FL next month.  What am I going to do without her?  She is my best friend.  She helps me with the boys.  I adore her daughter.  I will have no family here.

This is my latest project that I finished:

I found this pattern here.
You knit the arms, legs, and body.  The head, hands, and feet are crocheted.  You stuff just the body with some of the extra yarn.  I actually stuffed the head as well.  I am figuring out how to add a face and hair to the next one.  This one is going to be a gift for my first client's daughter.  Her first birthday party is this evening.
