Jan. 10, 2009 - Homemade Cinnamon Rolls

One of my favorite parts of homeschooling is not having to rush out the door every morning. Esther woke up early with me and helped me make these cinnamon rolls (from scratch) that are supposed to taste like Cinnabon rolls. They turned out pretty good but I think they'll get better with more practice.

Jan. 2, 2009 - His Love for Humanity

This past holiday season, I found myself thinking often of Jesus' life on earth. Jesus Christ, the only one with the power to choose His place of birth, was born in a manger, raised in a town of low-esteem and by a father with a modest career. He left His palace to become human for us. He did this to reach through the social stratus and save the money-loving high and mighty and the rejected and forgotten. I pray that I would be filled with the same self-sacrificing love for others. As one of my favorite songs says, "Lord, give me your eyes so I can see...give me your heart for humanity..."

I have less pictures of Esther, not because she's the second child, but because she will not sit still!

I'm trying to get some good fall pictures of the girls to send to Dad but the lighting is a bit harsh in the early afternoon. Dawn and dusk are great times to take photos so we'll try that tomorrow.

Oct. 16, 2008 - HElllllooooooo!

I miss blogging but I also don't know how I'd have much time to be on a computer right now. We are so busy with life! The girls and I are in Michigan, visiting my husband's family and we're going to go see Melissa (thelordismyshepherd) tonight. We always try our best to spend time together when I'm up here, no matter how crazy our schedules are...between Melissa and my plans, we are squeezing it in today.

Well, yesterday as the girls and I were driving in the van, Quinn heard the radio announcer talking about "Jesus Freak". She says "what is 'freak'?" So, I turned the radio off, cleared my throat and by the end, I was quoting the verse about how we as Christians are not to fear what man can do to us, they can only destroy this earthly body, they will NEVER be able to destroy our soul...it is in the hand of our Almighty God. I also sang the Jesus Freak song to Quinn and asked her what she thought about what I said and she simply replies "Nice, now can you turn the radio back on?". Uhhhhh, who knows...maybe something will stick and I like to imagine if we do face persecution, Quinn will remember the "inspiring" words of her mother. I think I inspired myself more than I did my kids! ;)

May you and your family be inspired by God's Word and His promises today!

Sep. 9, 2008 - whew!

Well, we are still computerless in our houseshold but I really haven't had much time anyway so while I'm at the library waiting for ballet lessons to finish, I thought I'd write a little. School has been busy this year. I'm now teaching two children and Kindergarten definitely doesn't take much time but second grade sure does! We're basically covering all subjects now and I've yet to plan the Kings and Queen's feast for our Konos study. I'm also thinking of doing a Little House on the Prairie Christmas party this year.  Some other homeschool moms in our county have formed a co-op and last week was our first day. It was a lot of fun and the girls really enjoyed it! They are taking drama, science, and p.e. for eight weeks and then the next six weeks, they'll be studying different cultures.

Aaron is in boot camp now and we don't expect to see him until Christmas. This morning was the first morning without him here and it was lonesome since he's usually just coming home from work when I'm waking up so I really missed that time with him. Otherwise, I've made a list of goals to accomplish while he's gone: * repair a hole in the "drum room"  wall and paint the walls and have new carpet installed in that room and our bedroom. (We call the spare room the "drum room" since that's where Daddy plays his drums but it's now becoming Esther's room).  *lay tile in the laundry room *may also paint the upstairs bathroom *start running again (I did go yesterday and may try to fit it in tonight while we have cool weather *set up A LOAD of doctor apts. since we have great coverage thru the military right now * do more research on adoptions (did I mention that we're considering adoption?)

So that's some of my list but I need to go so that my yung'un can play a game on the computer.
