We're doin' the Happy Dance!

It's another Mazel Tov for our house.  Quick Background: Our 19yo son is a sophomore at the university majoring in Political Science w/focus on Global Politics. He's been working part-time, lives at home, and commutes an hour one-way to campus, and maintains a 3.5 GPA.   He's also a faithful young man of integrity and faith.  And this week it was a greatly rewarded.  He got a call Tuesday morning from the Phillips Foundation in D.C. informing him that he had won the Ronald Reagan Future Leaders Scholarship for $7500 for next year, and it's renewable for his Senior Year!   This is all his tuition and books (with some change left over).  He also should be receiving an automatic $1500 from the school. This means he can seriously think about moving on campus (which was one of our goals for his Jr. year).  And then....on Wednesday morning, one of Trustees for the Phillips Foundation calls who's in town. She apparently is the VP of External Affairs for the Heritage Foundation (one of the biggest think tanks for Conservative Politics) and their annual symposium is here this year (and it's yesterday and today) and invites him to come join them! (waiving registation fee as well).  Well, none of this makes any sense to me, but DS knows half the names on the docket and understands everything their "thinking" about.  So he spent yesterday at the swankiest hotel in town, rubing shoulders with all kinds of people in his field, collectiing business cards, being told about internships, etc.   He goes back today for more of the same.   He's on cloud 9 (10 and 11, too).  And all I can think to say is Mazel Tov! Somewhere there is a scripture that says that the Lord rewards those who honestly seek him.  This is obviously our month for rewards!  Blessed be the Lord!

The icing is on the cake. To have a child who loves the Lord and has academic success to boot, is well, a great reason to do the happy dance!!!

Dancing with you today! Give that boy a hug.

So happy for your family right now. All your daughters' successes are great too,and I loved the pictures. What a blessing for a mother's heart to see her children appreciated and rewarded. They sound like two fine young people, and you should be very proud!
God Bless

How wonderful to see the fruit of your parenting/schooling. It is a real encouragement for those of us who aren't quite as far along the road yet. What a blessing to see all that God has done!
Congratulations!
