A Crocus & A Chrysanthemum

Just for My Faithful Few

Last post June 6th...wow, that's a while. Not the longest break I've ever taken, but more than just a breather. And somehow, according to my stat counter, I'm still getting hits, and there are one or two of the faithful few who check in daily (Thanks Karen for having faith in me). So, to pay honor and homage to them, I'm blogging.

I guess the first order of business is where, oh where, have I been.  Just read the last couple of posts in May & June and that ought to catch you up.  Mostly life has been dominated by helping CROCUS with his blog and getting him back to DC.   Seems his little political activity which he started in Jan '07, has turned into a national item and he's spending most of his time answering emails, posting blogs, and giving interviews. Our local newspaper even did a full feature article on him. That was cool!  Then there were all the applications to internships and getting his resume together. It was just one thing after another.  As it turns out, getting a job in DC is like getting a part in a movie in Hollywood...you've got to be there standing in line, ready to start work tomorrow, or the guy in line behind you gets the part.  So, an internship get him back there and in the door.  And he got a great one....Townhall.com...what more could a young, conservative political activist want?  And who knows, maybe they'll have a permanent opening come November or December.  Even if not, his resume is awesome, this internship will be a great addition, and he's back there with references. Keep him in prayer.  Just for the sake of it, here's a picture of one of the world's greatest homeschoolers at his college graduation....

My MIGHTY OAK (DH) was blessed to be able to attend a weeklong Messianic Jewish conference on prayer sponsored by First Fruits of Zion in early June. It's the first time he's ever gone to a religious conference and did something just for himself. I'm so glad he went! He came home refreshed, encouraged, and even more passionate about our observance.  Baruch Hashem!

CHRYSANTHEMUM is busy writing her book, continuing her TaeKwonDo, and finishing up her very last year ever in 4H. She did a beautiful job with the pictures for the Photography project, but waited a bit too late on the record book and, well, didn't do her best. But you know what, she completed it instead of blowing it off and taking an incomplete. She finished this race with integrity and for that I'm proud of her.  My favorite photo of the year was this still life....

Me, well I keep up with everyone else and stay busy with my own projects. I'm still taking TaeKwonDo with Chrysanthemum and have started publishing their newsletter. I'm also preparing to teach three class at our homeschool co-op: Jr High - Geography, HS - Forensic Science, and HS - Bible Study.  I'm also trying to figure out what classes Chrysanthemum will take. We know she'll be taking Election '08 to prepare her for the General Election in November (she's very excited to get to vote), and will be helping teach a TaeKwonDo course. Aside from that there's a few things that could fill the time, but we're not sure. I'll keep you posted.

Well, that catches everything up for the moment.  Life changes rapidly around here, so who know what will happen.  Of course my own life will be changing dramatically this year. My Chrysanthemum will turn 18 on Aug 18th and senior this year, so this will be my last year homeschooling. The day after her birthday, on the 19th, Crocus flies out to start his own life 3,000 miles away...without me.  This could be rough. But, I have faith that G-d will carry me through and that He has wonderful ,new and exciting paths prepared for me to follow.

I'll try to keep up the blog, but don't be suprised if it gets a bit political regarding McCain Veepstakes (VP pick). It's Crocus' passion and, well, he's one of my passions.  Until then, be well and be blessed.

Julie

Jul. 22, 2008 - what to do?

We are having a terrible time wondering what to do do about the terrible choices for Pres. Either we throw in the towel and vote for McCain, or vote for Constitution party and feel lke we throw our vote away. I know His Providence is perfect, but sometime's He has me wondering...Of course, it may take someone like either of these men, to wake people up. Yuck!
Blessings,
Christine

It's so nice to hear from you again. You've go so much going on this summer. I'll keep Crocus in my prayers. He's about to take flight for sure. Politics is a passion of mine too... in my adult years. I agree with the previous commenter - this year's nominees are less then ideal (well, in my opinion anyway). I can't wait to see how God turns everything out. Until next time... take care!

It's good to hear from you again! Sound slike you are all moving at the speed of life and it sounds awesome. I love your daughter's photos. She does have a special talent and a good eye. I hope she continues with it. And your son...well, all I can say is, "Wow!" It's amazing what can happen when one follows his passion.
I miss you, by the way, and am so in need of long distance tea again! Let's see if we can't make that happen soon.
Betty
