Yesterday and today my 15yo daughter was sick. Not the throwing up and out from both ends kind of sick; just a small fever, sore throat, headache kind of sick. But we still logged some "school" or at least educational opportunities. Now, before you start thinking someone should call child services on me, I don't stand over them with a stick making them sit at a desk doing Algebra. I don't do that when they're well! Why would I do it when they're sick. Anyway, our "school" log shows that she did 3 hours of American History, 1 hour of Science, and 1 hour of World History/Geography, and 1/2 hour of Lang. Arts Critical Thinking; and that's just today. So....where did it come from? First she fought her way through the Cryptogram in this morning's paper and got through a few of the clues in the crossword puzzle (L/A critical thinking and spelling if I want to push it). Then she curled up in her bed with a cup of tea, she spent 3 hours reading a novel entitled "Jamestown" - Historical Fiction account about Jamestown (Am. History). Yesterday she finished a biography on Harriett Tubman. She came out and flipped on the National Geographic Channel and watched a one-hour documentary on Stonehenge, which she studied in geography & astronomy (World Hist/Geography) and then a one-hour documentary on the moon (Sci). Not bad for a sick kid!
