Last week we talked about perspective which actually ties in nicely with this week's topic of cabin fever.
Sometimes it's easy to focus on all the things you can't do outside and start to go a little stir crazy inside. Yet Scripture reminds us that there is a purpose and season for everything under heaven. Winter is a great time to learn new things and tackle some indoor projects. Invite friends over and build birdhouses together, do some scrapbooking, have a bakeoff, play chess, or just hang out together.
Maybe you can organize an indoor field trip or outing for your homeschool group or friends. Bowling and skating are good options. Perhaps there is a local gym or community center where you all can get together and let the kids run off some energy. The main thing is that you have to " just do it" and not wait on someone else to plan something.
Winter won't last forever. Soon enough the kids will be able to go outside and burn off some energy again. But for now let's just do a little preventative care and try to ward off cabin fever as best as we can. Who knows, you might just make such great memories with your children and friends that you actually look forward to winter next year!
