September 28-30th

We arrived in Fayteville, PA where we met Lori Ann. She is a professional mime and does drama in churches. However before any mime stuff we cleaned the church we were going to be in. Then we started the mime time. After 4 hours of mime we stopped and went to her house to have dinner. It was very good. Following dinner was mail time. In it Chris and I did Barbara Manatee. That was hilarious. The next day we did more technique time and had a great day. Then we went to our host homes and had time to talk and discuss things. The final day there we went do Gettysburg, PA and visited the Civil War site. That night there was a presentation and besides the directors and Lori Ann's family FOUR people showed up and were very blessed by the presentation. The following morning we left for another stop in PA.

September 24-27th

We arrived in Purcellville, VA in the afternoon where we inspected our surroundings. After unloading the van we put our duffles and sleeping bags in the foyer and preceded to smash or shoo the potato bugs that were hanging around. Then came the short one day workshop where we taught a few songs to the team that came. In the bible study time our study which we prepared was just about told in a paragraph of speech when one of the Delta team members spoke about what was on her heart. That night we split to go to our host homes. The next day was a field trip to Washington D.C. It was awesome visiting the various things there. I learned bumper pool at my host home. It is a very addicting game. Saturday was a practice day for our team and we also did a service project that consisted of cleaning up the facility we were using. On the last day in Purcelville we went to church then had a presentation in Washington D.C. at the Jefferson Memorial. On Monday morning we pulled out and left for Fayteville, PA.

September 17th-23rd

Aaahhh training camp. Personally for me it was getting up at 5 a.m. and going to bed close to 11 p.m. that really struck me as hard. On the first day we picked up Hannah, Sarah, and Chris. All the members in order of age on the trip are as follows: Mr. Brown, Mrs. Brown, Amber, Courtney, Chris, Madison, Sarah, Emily, Hannah, myself, and Rachel. The next morning we started the official training camp which went six days. After approximately 48-52 hours of bible study, several hours of song time, and several hours of sign language/mime technique we set of on the road to our first stop on the 23rd.

I will put these next several entries of the mission trip in Journal form.

September 16th, 2009

Today we had a long drive starting in Branson, Missouri and ending in Vanleer, Tennessee at Camp Ridgedale. My Dad dropped my sister and I off at the Browns house and we prayed then drove to pick up Amber Redmond. Then we started our drive to Tennessee. After we crossed the MO/AR border it started to rain. It rained and rained and rained and rained (did I mention it rained?) almost all the way there. We arrived at the Camp at around 6 p.m. and found out the power was out so we had a candle light dinner. In the middle of some hang out time after dinner we got power again, so we played a game called Apples to Apples then went to our respective dorms (boys dorm, girls dorm). Lights were out in about 15 minutes.

• August 21, 2009 - The Final Presentation for the summer session 2009

Posted in AIM
Yesterday was the last day of the session so we had a presentation and it was a lot of fun.
The songs we presented (and their length) are as follows:
In the Light [4.5 min.],
Devil is bad [3 min.], (I was the devil)
Virtuoso [4 min.], (I was the devil)
Courtroom [6 min], (I was the devil(seeing a trend?)){The satan cape is black and large so by the lengths of the song you can figure how long I was sweating in that cape.}
Washed in the blood [4 min.],
In God we still trust [4 min.], and finally
Freedom and Restoration [9 MINUTES!] (I was the devil){and I wore the cape through that to}

So all in all I was a pretty evil guy last night.
Mrs. Mills came to me after the presentation and asked if it was a compliment to say I played a good devil.
(what is your opinion?)

• August 18, 2009 - Service Project

Posted in AIM
Today was a service project day for AIM. The first thing was to go to the recplex (a place kind of like YMCA) and eat breakfast which contained doughnuts, um doughnuts, and doughnuts (did I mention doughnuts?). \ Then we (AIM) went to Alexander Park, that is a park here in Branson, MO, and painted the restrooms and pavilion of that park. Mulching was done by Charleton and Amber. James, and I helped pitch the mulch into a wheelbarrow where it could be dumped and spread. I accidentally stabbed James with the pitchfork... then I got accidentally stabbed by James with HIS pitchfork. After we were done, we finished up the painting and then washed the brushes and pans. I was then dropped off at The Salvation Army Church, where I was picked up by my dad and now I am home.

• August 16, 2009 - Aim workshop part two

On the second day I went straight up to Electives. I went to stroll miming. There I learned Mime boot camp. First one of the mimes orders the others into a straight line and he/she paces back and forth and fixes any uneven lines, goofy faces and statues. If a mime is mischievous then he/she orders him/her to do push-ups, running in place, or jumping jacks etc. We had a mime tug of war and hide and seek. Next was bible study and we talked about how to have the spirit in our lives. I can't remember exactly what was said but it was a great study. Dinner was next and I had brought mine so I ate it and talked with the guys from the workshop. After dinner was MAIL TIME! Michael had three letters since it was his birthday and Summer had one and Daniel had one. With Audrey Voth and Ellie Voth they did the three little pigs. Michael and Summer then did the bunny song (not veggietales because Michael didn't know it (shame shame)) Then we did more electives and I went to public speaking and did an impromptu speech on bunny's. Next I did a transition to go and everybody clapped. Charleton did an impromptu speech on knights and nights. More bible study time came and we all went by ourselves and had about ten minutes of reflection and waiting on God. It was awesome! I felt that God had descended in power on the church. After that was song time and we did In God We Still Trust, which is a twangy song that hardly anybody really likes that much but it is fun to do. I got the Dad part, Madison was the Mom, and Kyle Duncan was the son. Finally we presented for the parents and everybody liked it. The Midwest team did Freedom and Restoration. That is the end of the workshop and we had a fun time in doing it.

After dinner we went on to electives there was public speaking and single mime. I went to single mime with John (my brother) and learned the song Thief. The song is based on the thief that was crucified with Jesus and then went to heaven. Then we learned cross technique. Gabriel gave us some good advice on what to do. Next was song time. We were taught In God We Still Trust. First we watched the mission trip present the song and then they had a discussion about parts. I was the Dad, Madison (my sister) was the Mom and Kyle Duncan was the Son. We practiced it a couple times and did very well for the first and second time. Thus ended the first day of the workshop.
