On the second day I went straight up to Electives. I went to stroll miming. There I learned Mime boot camp. First one of the mimes orders the others into a straight line and he/she paces back and forth and fixes any uneven lines, goofy faces and statues. If a mime is mischievous then he/she orders him/her to do push-ups, running in place, or jumping jacks etc. We had a mime tug of war and hide and seek. Next was bible study and we talked about how to have the spirit in our lives. I can't remember exactly what was said but it was a great study. Dinner was next and I had brought mine so I ate it and talked with the guys from the workshop. After dinner was MAIL TIME! Michael had three letters since it was his birthday and Summer had one and Daniel had one. With Audrey Voth and Ellie Voth they did the three little pigs. Michael and Summer then did the bunny song (not veggietales because Michael didn't know it (shame shame)) Then we did more electives and I went to public speaking and did an impromptu speech on bunny's. Next I did a transition to go and everybody clapped. Charleton did an impromptu speech on knights and nights. More bible study time came and we all went by ourselves and had about ten minutes of reflection and waiting on God. It was awesome! I felt that God had descended in power on the church. After that was song time and we did In God We Still Trust, which is a twangy song that hardly anybody really likes that much but it is fun to do. I got the Dad part, Madison was the Mom, and Kyle Duncan was the son. Finally we presented for the parents and everybody liked it. The Midwest team did Freedom and Restoration. That is the end of the workshop and we had a fun time in doing it.

After dinner we went on to electives there was public speaking and single mime. I went to single mime with John (my brother) and learned the song Thief. The song is based on the thief that was crucified with Jesus and then went to heaven. Then we learned cross technique. Gabriel gave us some good advice on what to do. Next was song time. We were taught In God We Still Trust. First we watched the mission trip present the song and then they had a discussion about parts. I was the Dad, Madison (my sister) was the Mom and Kyle Duncan was the Son. We practiced it a couple times and did very well for the first and second time. Thus ended the first day of the workshop.

Monday was the first day of the second Branson, MO workshop ever (The first was in 2002). I missed the first half (not literally) of both days of the works shop because of a home school class.

I arrived at 4 p.m. (It started at 3 p.m.[although I don't think that p.m. was necessary because who would give a workshop at 3 a.m.?]) just in time to see them finish teaching the song Always Been The Solider. So I was not put in the song until the next day.
We went straight into bible study and watched a little skit about the spirit against the flesh it went something like this: Bud (Jason) is just a regular guy. But there is something wrong with him. He does whatever he wants to and according to what he feels like. If someone hit him he hit back. This thing inside him is called "flesh" (Gabriel Poch). Soon Bud was doing very wrong thinks like stealing money from grouchy old ladies (Summer). Then the "spirit" (Summer) came along and stood by and watched but "Flesh" said "He is mine I have the title deed to his heart, so beat it spirit". Spirit flaps away but comes back a little while later with a paper. Flesh says "Hey! What are you doing here. I've got the papers....augh nuts, now you have the papers.
So flesh picks a fight because he doesn't want to leave and that is why there is a battle going on inside our hearts.

After bible study was dinner. Alex Zobel and I talked about camps and what we liked about them and he told me some stories about his camp. He told about a girl who cheated at tether ball and then said that she had not lost a game. At this camp if you are not seen in the pool on the last two days they will push you down the slide into the pool. The played games in the dark and tackling games.

The MidWest Mission Trip has left for at least three weeks now and I am just now getting to blog about it.
The people there were Michael, Gabriel Poch, Kirsten Larson, and some other people that I cannot remember.
We (Josiah, Jessica, and I) helped with the songs that we did and I cannot remember what we did besides Gifter which nobody really knew that well. Most had heard it. A few had seen it. But One had done it, and that was Gabriel.

Today I was at a corporate service for our church. To explain I will have to go back in time.
July 2008: Lease on building went up.
August 2008: Plan of house church (night prayer meetings) every Sunday implemented, and corporate service last Sunday of every month.
July 2009: It has been a year since we lost our building and we went to church at a park, and had hot dogs and hamburgers.

so that's how it has gone.

• June 10, 2009 - "Why is this place empty"

Posted in Home Life
I already told you about how I went to my orthodontist appointment yesterday. Unfortunately I walked into the waiting area and it was dark and I was the only patient there. "Why is this place empty?" I told myself. One of the receptionists saw me and asked if she could help me. I stated my reason for being there. Another lady went to her computer checked the records and said, "Jarek YOU MISSED YOUR APPOINTMENT, IT WAS YESTERDAY (Monday) AT 11:30 AM." I thought to myself "oh NO!!!" .... To explain this mishap on our account, I have to go back to last Saturday. They called to confirm my appointment and the person who answered didn't here the correct day. Now back  to my position at the office. I found out from the lady's at the front desk that they got a new computer system and were learning how to work it, so they were not taking patients that day (that explains the darkness and loneliness in there.

It is a reminder to call if you have any doubt about the day of your appointment.

Today I am going to visit the orthodontist and get my wires tightened on my braces Ugghh!! My Orthodontist is named Dr. CASH !! (yes that is his real name!) and he is rightfully named. Anyway there is an upside. I get to eat milkshakes and yogurt for two days straight. My brothers and sisters won't be happy about that. Well that's it for now.

• June 8, 2009 - Helping AKMT

Posted in AIM
Last Thursday I helped the AKMT (Alaska Mission Trip) members learn their songs that they will teach on the mission trip. I helped teach the following songs: Go, There is a God, End of the Beginning, Champion, and Courtroom. So without further ado Teaching-Mission-Trip-Songs with Jarek.

The first song we did was Go. I was involved in teaching the crowd, guards, and the main part Stephen.
It seemed to me we had a lot of goofing off going on, so we prayed to get focused on teaching the songs. I was very impressed on the members willingness to learn the songs differently from what they were used to and so I commend them for that. I taught Chris Kelly the Stephen part and we kind of put what I did with what he did to create a better Stephen part (sort of). The guard part is where it got funny. Chris was The Guard. He was pretending to be the buffest (if that is even a word) man in the world. He had to chain up Charleton and Gabriel.  Well he was goofing off and gave a serious buff face, which coming from Chris is really funny.

After the BUFF episode, we finished the song and moved on to Courtroom, where I had to teach Chris the Satan part. Now for those of you who don't know Chris, he is an awesome Satan in Virtuoso (another AIM song). So teaching him this part was fun.

Next was: There is a God, which ironically had no God character in the song so we made one.

Then we ate dinner. (that's pretty self explanatory)

Next the boys cleaned up dinner which involved a number of tasks. Washing tables, washing dishes, drying dishes, putting away dishes, and straightening the tables and chairs.

After dinner we went to the next song: End of the Beginning. Josiah Roberts and I taught Charleton the part of the skeptic. I have to say Charleton catches on to parts fast. Katie Roberts taught the crowd part and we had taught Charleton his part in the time it took Katie to teach the crowd. (She's very good at teaching).

Our last song for the night was Champion, where I had to teach (drum roll please) Chris!!!! Yes, I taught him the Satan part. Seems to me Chris and I have the majority of Satan parts on our teams. Anyway he makes a good Satan so he looks good in those parts.

As we finished they thanked us for helping them get ready for Alaska, and we thanked them for being flexible with their parts.
