Do not let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set the example for the believers in speech, in life, in love, in faith, and in purity. I Timothy 4:12

Unfinished Business

So these are two posts that I started but have not finished and probably will not. I'm currently working on another post but thought I'd post these for grins.

So to continue the saga. The next morning after a delicious pancake breakfast courtesy of Ms. Gail, we got to the workshop church around nine – a bit after – and met the Alaska team, fresh off the plane (“fresh” in this case meaning “just,” not “crisp”). They had all been awake for a very long time and – the girls at least – were very exhausted. Hence very talkative, and somewhat hyper. Well, they were like that for the first hour or so. Then they chilled out because they were so tired.

That day there were maybe fifteen kids, tops, at the workshop, so the teachers WAY outnumbered the students. The AK team taught their mime class, a very abbreviated version of their sign language class,

Dear Courtney,

So I don’t know if you’ll actually get this but I’m going to send it to you anyway. How’s your time been on the beach? Having fun? I hope that y’all are having the time of your life and getting to relax a bit after all the business going on here lately.

So we definitely could have used you guys on Thursday and I really was missing you on Friday. Thursday Jo and I got there around 4:30 and the Lillys were there – guess they were helping Kristi – but the team was upstairs doing Bible study. Come to find out they’d spent the ENTIRE day doing Bible study. Poor people. I don’t remember spending that much time on Bible study on my trips. ‘course on my trips we had more time for songs too.

We taught from 4:45-6ish… got through three songs before dinner. Jarek was there to help teach and John manned the CD player, so it really wasn’t that bad. And we imposed upon Madison to help teach Gifter because I got stuck teaching the God part again. That’s really kind of awkward, you know.

Let’s see… what songs did we do that day? They’re kinda blurring with the songs we did with y’all. Well, we taught Gifter, Washed in the Blood, Larger, There is a God, America Again, Always Been, In the Light, Stand, and Faithful. Wow, I didn’t realize it was that many. The Lillys left around eight and we finished teaching at about 9:45. It was a long day for us and I can only imagine how long it was for the team. We had to watch the video for Washed and could only play it off Tess’ computer, so the sound for that one was a bit interesting. Actually most of the songs after dinner were interesting because the team was pretty loopy so we were having trouble staying focused.

I'll be remembering / The dark night; the hard fight; the long climb up a hill knowing the cost / The brave death, the last breath, the silence whispering all hope is lost / The thunder, the wonder... the power that brings the dead back to life!
