What happens when...

...two teenage girls have a sleepover?

Well, you smash food all over your face, of course!!

Dearest Katie and I enjoyed fellow-shipping with each other last night; it is such a blessing to be able to spend time with other like-minded sisters in Christ, and we definitely made the most of our fun time together. She had acquired a book with natural recipes for facials, "foot scrubs," hand treatments, etc., and we decided to "give them a try." Ignoring the "please apply (and leave on for 24 hours) a small 'patch test' on your skin with the various ingredients to ensure that an allergic reaction will not ensue," we began mixing the various concoctions, determining that we would suffer together if allergic reactions did ensue.

A paste of cornmeal and water served as an "exfoliator" for our face, actually smoothing our complexion (at least, we thought it did). Following that, we boiled water and allowed a couple of lemon slices to steep in it along with a bit of tangerine oil. Bending over the bowl, we each covered ourselves and the bowl with a towel and let the citrus steam cleanse our pores. After we had splashed our slightly red and sweaty faces with cool water, oatmeal and  honey found their way onto our faces. Yes, you heard correctly. The sticky mixture was applied, and we relaxed with potato slices covering our eyes (I had only heard of doing it with cucumbers, but this worked, too). This completed what we had chosen to do for the facial and left us feeling refreshed and revitalized ... a nice alternative to weird chemical face-washes.

Although it hasn't been our lifelong dream to have whiter fingernails (changing topics ), we decided to soak them in freshly squeezed lemon juice, warm tap water, and a couple drops of tangerine oil. Whether this whitened mine or not, I may never know for sure, but what we did next, I had never pictured myself doing. The book said that soaking your hands in 1/3 cup of olive oil would moisturize them or something. So, we poured the greasy oil into a boil and lathered our little phalanges and the rest of our hands with olive oil. After "patting" them dry, we eventually decided that we should probably wash off the greasiness that was left because turning door handles and etc. are a bit harder tasks when olive oil residue remains on the hands.

Although we were pleased with the results of, especially, the facial, we just had fun being crazy in our experimenting and just spending time together.

So, that's my "adventure" for the week ... may your week be blessed, whether crazy or not!

Sounds like fun all this exfoliation! Sleep overs are so fun when you get to share them with someone close to you! I am glad that you have Katie, and she has you, for I do not know what I would do without godly companions!
