BFS Assignment 9: Bountiful Blessings

bountiful blessings

Part A: Share at least 3 “Bountiful Blessings” that the Lord has abundantly provided.

This past year we were Bountifully Blessed with two visits from our sending church. We were so grateful  for all that the Lord did to make it possible! We were blessed with wonderful fellowship with our brothers and sisters in Christ, gifts, prayers, hugs, words of encouragement, listening ears, beautiful worship to the Lord in English,  the gift of hard work which left my home looking a little nicer and a new house started! And many more things little and big which left us feeling so loved, cared for and truly blessed by the Lord.

Part B: Share your Thanksgiving Feast {past or present}

Thanksgiving was a lot of fun last week. Even though we would have loved to be all together with family we had the next best thing. About 8 families and 2 single ladies all got together at one of the family's houses across town to eat turkey (yes, it IS possible to get a good turkey in Peru), dressing, mashed potatoes and gravy, sweet potatoes, so many veggie dishes I can't even remember them all, pumpkin pies and even cranberry sauce! Yum!

There was a funny moment when our Peruvian co-worker was asked to lead us in prayer. Of course he speaks Spanish so in Spanish he said, "I am going to lead us in prayer now, even though this is a completely American holiday!"

When we missionaries get together for holiday dinners like this a puzzle box or two usually gets pulled out and we all go to town putting it/them together. This year it was just one big puzzle and it was almost done by the time we left. I usually join in more but this time I only put one piece on. But I had a blast visiting with the ladies. We don't seem to get together enough so it's always nice to have time to just sit and gab.The boys had fun running around outside and eating!

The only picture I have of the day is of our family trying to get a family picture.

I thought, we're all dressed nicely, our friend's yard is a lovely place for a picture, why not? I forgot about the bugs. In every picture someone (if not several people) is either squinting or swatting. Sigh. I think I am going to give up on getting a family picture where we are all looking (not squinting) at the camera and smiling. I think we should just do the Brady Bunch thing and take individual pictures and just line them up together.

Part C: Post a Scripture that reminds you of your blessings!

Thinking about the bountiful blessings God has given us this year in the form of the physical makes me think about the spiritual things I have to be thankful for. I love how Paul says it in Ephesians.

Ephesians 1:6-8 - "So we praise God for the wonderful kindness he has poured our on us because we belong to his dearly loved Son. He is so rich in kindness that he purchased our freedom through the blood of his Son, and our sins are forgiven. He has showered his kindness on us, along with all wisdom and understanding."

In other news this past week Heidi took 5 steps! Since then she's been nervous about falling and only goes about two steps before sitting. But she's getting the idea and is trying to step ouy by herself.
Here she is with a hat I knit for her with curls.

Um, you can definitely do the Holiday Bundle - don't worry about being overseas. I will have it sent to where! ; )

I found your blog by looking at who's "online now," and have really enjoyed reading your past several entries and seeing your pictures! You have a beautiful family. :-)
I love missions and Hispanic people (have been on 2 mission trips to Guatemala and hope to do much more mission work in the future) so your blog is very interesting to me. What kind of work do you do with the Peruvian people?

God bless and have a wonderful week!
