My True Identity

I read this a couple days ago from a daily devotional I receive from Lifetime Guarantee Ministries. Such a good reminder to me of things I've been learning these past few months.

My True Identity

I have an identity that cannot be marred
By the circumstances of life.
It does not fade, nor age, nor fail,
No matter how great the strife.
It grows! It becomes more beautiful!
It defies all the world can give!
For it has its roots in Him who died
Who was raised
And through whom I live.
But how to live without worldly acceptance?
Without recognition or fame?
How to live with the patterns I've built
And not be a "winner" in the game?
How?
By knowing who I am,
By accepting His truth about me.
By grasping, clutching, tenaciously clinging
To the truth I have come to see.
Sweet victory--sweet trumphal fragrance,
Confident, persuaded, content to be.
No longer controlled by who I was
But to live!
Accepted!
In my true identity.

God's marvelous Love

"And I pray that Christ will be more and more at home in your hearts as you trust in Him. May your roots go down deep into the soil of God's marvelous love. And may you have the power to understand, as all God's people should, how wide, how long, how high, and how deep His love really is. May you experience the love of Christ, though it is so great you will never fully understand it. Then you will be filled with the fullness of life and power that comes from God.
Now glory be to God! By His mighty power at work within us,
He is able to accomplish infinitely more than we would ever dare to ask or hope."

-Ephesians 3:17-20

New Creature

I became a new creature when I was three years old. My parents shared the truth with me, that I was a sinner and that the payment for sin is death (Romans 3:23). But they shared that God the Father sent his Son Jesus to be born of a virgin, live a life as a human and that he let sinful men crucify him. He, the Spotless Lamb gave himself up to pay for my  wrong-doing and God accepted his perfect sacrifice. The sin debt was paid for in full! He rose again and went to live in heaven and is now seated at the Father's right hand. My parents showed me from the Word that if I put my trust in the One who paid for my sins, that I would become a new creature! So on that day I was changed. Made right with God where once I was his enemy.

"What this means is that those who become Christians become new persons. They are not the same anymore, for the old life is gone. A new life has begun!" - 2 Corinthians 5:17

That happened a long time ago but just recently the Lord has been taking me back to some basic basic truths from the Word to help me see more clearly what my True Identity In Jesus Christ is. The main thing is that I am no longer what I once was! I have been made new. Who I really am is a child of God, made right through the work of His perfect Son.

I just had to share! :)

You shall go out with joy!

We've been singing praise songs around here these days. One that Shane has been playing on the guitar is Isaiah 55:12 - "For you will go out with joy And be led forth with peace; The mountains and the hills will break forth into shouts of joy before you, And all the trees of the field will clap their hands."

The song goes like this:

You shall go out with joy
And be led forth with peace
The mountains and the hills
Will break forth before you.
They'll be shouts of joy
And all the trees of the field
Will clap, will clap their hands.

And all the trees of the field will clap their hands.
The trees of the fields will clap their hands.
The trees of the fields will clap their hands,
While you go out with joy!

What would it be like to see and hear the trees clap their hands? Arel wondered if they would clap their leaves together?
And what would it be like to hear the mountains break out in shouts of joy?!
It would be quite an awesome sound I'm sure!
Surrounded by mountains it's not surprising that we'd think of this and wonder. Just look at them! God made them with the Great Flood and they are HUGE!!
mountains
May I learn to break out with shouts of joy to the Lord like the mountains and clap my hands like the trees! For He is Worthy!!
