Good Friends, Shoes, and Coffee

I needed a little bit of a reminder from the Lord this week.  A reminder of what you ask?  Life is NOT about ME!!!!  It's shocking I know.  (That life is not about me AND that I need to be reminded of such.)

I had such plans this week.  Tuesday night plans, Wednesday afternoon plans, Thursday night plans...  But guess what!  My kids are sick...count them 1, 2, 3...not #4...yet!  So my week is actually a week full of cancelled plans.  I can't say that I was very happy.  Next, one of my best friend's had her baby and I can't go to the hospital and see them because my family is contagious....uuuuugggggghhhhh!  To top it all off, my mom calls and says she is taking my dog to the vet to be put down.  (I have had her since I was a junior in high school...14years ago.)

As I prayed I realized that my focus for every single thing was about what I wanted to do.  I needed to be reminded of where I am needed and why I do what I do day to day.  God is always faithful to supply an attitude adjustment when I need it.  I finally accepted my week and began to serve the Lord and my family with a cheerful heart.  It is amazing how peaceful my home was today despite all of the feverish children.

But the Lord not only disciplined me, He blessed me as well.  After I had repented of my selfishness, there was a knock on my door.  A friend bearing gifts!  Nothing like a chocolately Star Bucks treat and a new pair of shoes to brighten my day.  Thank you Melissa and Ashley.  Every girl needs good friends!

Isn't it funny how once we finally accept the situation God has allowed us to be in, we are usually blessed and can later see the reasoning behind it! How sweet of your friends to bring you gifts!

Thanks for commenting and the link! The wreath looks beautiful but I am a bit daunted by the fact that it requires 4 BAGS of kisses! Oi. That is A LOT of wrappers to be picking up over the course of who knows how long... There is no way my boys would be able to resist! But it is beautiful... And I can't seem to find my normal wreath...
