good news from the legislature
Today I received the following e-mail from Brad Haines, Executive Director with Families for Home Education (FHE) of MIssouri, our statewide homeschooling organization.
All,
WE WON!!! Quinn thought he got his language giving control of driving privileges to government schools tagged on to a transportation bill. It was REMOVED during the conference session, and passed in the Senate before he knew it. Then he made a "bother" of himself trying to get the House to reject the committee report. It passed the Hose WITHOUT his language and is on the way to the Governor's office. (It may be a few days before the FINAL language is on the website... Look for SB930, as truly agreed and passed.)
Also, Delbert Scott's bill allowing home educated grads to enter the State Hwy Patrol Academy on equal footing passed and is also on its way to the Gov.
Finally, the home school PROJECT bill naming the ice cream cone as the "official state dessert" passed and is likewise ready for Gov. Blunt's signature.
All in all, a pretty good (though tense) year.
In Christ's Service to Home Educators,
Brad L. Haines
