What to do? Curriculum

I had a blessed Christmas we visited family and had family here from Oklahoma.  The day after however was a different story I went to bed Christmas night with a slight headache I woke up later with a horrible headache later and then awoke several other times feeling nausea and just feeling bad. I was sick for a couple of days.

When dh got home yesterday he brought in the mail and I had gotten the catalog that I requested from Winter Promise, so I have used the time of recovery to read it from cover to cover. Today I feel good enough to sit at the computer so I have been reading WP forum and a blog I found with a WP MFW comparison.  My dd does not want to read any of Abeka readers to me so I am looking into something more hands on and fun.

I want something that is hands on crafts, fun, that has all the books with it ,that is planned out, WP looks really good but they don;t seem to have that great of a bible base. MFW has the Bible base but from what I understand you have to gather and prep and go the library which I guess I could purchase the books somewhere else. I have a baby so the prep work I don't have time for.  I like the way Winter Promise looks we are looking at AS1 for my 6yr dd. I also read a little info on Sonlight. It seems like just reading and no hands on. I thought I might add some of there books later if it doesn't over whelm us to use  WP and add Sonlight books. In reality I don't think I would ever get to the SL books seems we are always struggling to get done with what ever I have planned.

The biggest to things I am praying about with this decision though are how SL says that they have books some homeschoolers won't touch I  have always been the type of mom that alway leaned toward protecting my girls from worldly things. I wonder if I am doing it wrong though they might have a point about exposing them to the bad so that they can learn to deal with it.   However another homeschool mom once told me that my kids would one day learn to drive right I said yes she then said so are you gonna put them behind the wheel now? Of course not I said.  We don't let our kids watch certain shows either.

Anyway the other thing is what will I do for  Math  and LA.   WP AS1 looks wonderful and I really think she would enjoy it but at this age is that to much should we just be focusing on math, reading and writing?

I want to get a set of CDs that teach addition subtraction by songs. Since my kids love to sing and dance.  I think that will help us in math.   I just have to find where to get them.

Any suggestions  on all this curriculum stuff would be much appreciated.

Hi, thanks for the comment! In real life most people call me by my first name Amanda. When I was little everyone called me Mandy, and sometimes people called my Mandy Grace/Gracie. Mostly now I just use the name online, but I do like it when the occasional person calls me that in real life. :-)

Heather-

Somehow I missed your update posted on Preschoolers and Peace. Not sure how that happened, but I found it tonight and was so thrilled to hear of your success! Is she still off the bottle?

Blessings,
Kendra

Relate to the flu

We were in the same spot the evening of Christmas. Two kids came down with the stomach bug overnight. Hubby and I had it by the next day. Hope everyone is better at your house.

I'm not familiar with the curriculum options you're looking at. I've heard of all of them, but haven't used them personally. Keep searching and praying. You'll figure out what will work best for you.

As for math songs, We got Skip Count Kids for addition/subtraction songs. We got the Bible Heroes version and all the kids enjoy it.
