Curriculum Fall 2007
We sort of homeschool year round. We are always learning. We have officially begun our new curriculum. I just never got around to blogging about it. I finally decided on Winter Promise AW I am also using there LA program. At first I thought the AW reading was a little over Kaylee's head and that she was not retaining it. After a few months though I can now see that she really is retaining a lot more than I realized. She will now point out things that we have studied or that she remembers when we are not even having school.
I did however quickly tire of the animal theme everyday but we will continue. We are taking a break from the AW for a few weeks to do a unit study on Thanksgiving, being the main theme with anything about pumpkins, fall leaves, indians, pilgrims and anything to do with fall added in. We are doing a Turkey Time lapbook from http://www.handsofachild.com/ I checked out several books from the library on indians and Thanksgiving. I have made some great pumpkin muffins that the kids loved. I am planning to bake some pumpkin bread more on this later...
For math we are using A.C.E paces and a mixture of Math Mammoth, and other workbooks and math bingo. I love WP LA. Kaylee would get so frustrated reading last year. I finally through out the readers we were using last year. I realized she was bored by them. Now we are using WP readers, library books, and the bible. Within a months time I could see such a big improvement. She is actually enjoying reading now instead of dreading it. I want to creat a love of reading and learning in general in my children. We got the Young Readers Bible with our WP curriculum, she actually reads her best I think when she reads this. We are also using http://www.time4learning.com/Login/Member_Login.aspx as a supplement we love this to. Kaylee especially likes this. As if we aren't already doing enough.
There are lots of other resources that we are using from time to time. Though I can't name them all right now.

I've looked at WP Animal Worlds over and over. Are ya'll liking it alot, or is it just too much animals? Have fun studying about Thanksgiving!
