So what's for dinner? Menu for disaster. DO NOT try this at home.
Blackend cubed steak frozen corn on the cob. Both sprinkled with shattered glass chips. Top that food network.
I have been busting it lately, meaning cooking balanced meals even when I was to tired to cook. Buying organic milk and searching for horomone free meat. That I cannot find. I have even went as far as to make homemade wheat bread once last week. I did not even buy sandwhich meat or chips in the last two weeks. I want us to eat healthier and I know I don't have to take it to that high a level but I did. I guess I have read to many, bread making, healthy eating homeschooling mamas blogs' lately.
Well tonight I had planned on cubed steak. I usually don't fry but since we had not had cubed steak in a while I thought I would.
I cooked the first 3 pieces and placed a couple paper towels on a big glass dish. I then sat the dish on the burner on the other side of the stove to take up the steak. I had turned on the back burner to boil water for corn on the cob. In a few minutes I heard a horrible glass shattering sound. I did not even know what had broke at first glance.
Well turns out I had turned on the wrong burner buy mistake. The paper towels caught fire when the dish busted. I did not have any shoes on. Glass covered my kitchen. (That I might add had just been scrubbed, swept and mopped. 15 minutes before.) I tried to step carefully to the fire to get it out. I called for dd to bring me my shoes. She brought them but she through them because she was afraid to get to close. So here I was trying to put out the fire and could not get to the shoes she brought me cause of the glass cutting my feet. Now keep in mind this, is the dd that. Already has a fear of the house burning down. So she was panicing of course. I told her bring me another pair of shoes and don't throw them. Then she got to close and stepped on glass but somehow did not get cut. By the third pair I finally got the shoes. In between trying to beat out the fire. It kept flaming back up cause I didn't realize to begin with that the burner was on I thought it had gotten to hot from the burner behind it.
Panic overruled any logic and I forgot any and all fire safety I had ever learned you know salt, soda etc. All I could remember was not to use water. I beat it out again and swept it off into the trash can, (even smarter yeah I know) bag melted. Then I look down and see a Pine Sol bottle, I thought oh no now it is gonna blow up. So I ran it outside and hosed it down. Mean while dd had went out the back door dragging little sister with her into the dark. Who was crying I don't want to go outside.
Well it messed up my floor in one small spot, some glass stuck to it. Burned up dish towel. Had to through away whole bag of corn and all the steak. What a day. Needless to say we drove 20 minutes and ate at Dairy Queen, very unhealthy with no veggies but at least safer for tonight. So how was your day.
We have a friend who when you ask him how he is doing he always says Hooah.. another great fantastic hooah day. He says if he is having a bad day that he just changes it. ( Course this is coming from a man you know.) So I had a great day. I am Thankful I didn't burn down my house. That my kids are safe and that we could afford to go to Dairy Queen eat on kitchen disaster night.

It sounds like you definitely qualify to move to Australia after having that terrible, horrible, no good, very bad day! I must admit though... Reading about your experience had me laughing out loud- in complete stitches! As funny as it was, I surely do hope you don't have any more bad days like that!
Sending smiles your way,
Kim

Glad your family was safe and not to make too light but where is a video camera when you need one. That could've been a $10,000 pic on America's Funnies Videos, huh? If you are like me, sometimes you just have to laugh to get through some days.

WOW...what a story!
We love DQ, but there aren't any near us!
Used to be one every 25 miles. Now, we only see them on road trips.
