Feb. 13, 2007 - Some sites for your tea time perusal...
Well, I had a day home...so I thought I'd add a couple of websites for you to check out. Some of them are quite doozies too!
http://children.calvarychapel.com/site/curriculum_n/htm is a site for Bible lessons.
www.notebooking.org has quite a bit of info on how to do notebooking with your children.
www.canby.com/hockmanchupp/student_folder_websites.html has quite a few links to examples of how to make notebooks/lapbooks with your children.
www.aplusmath.com will help you help your children with their math problems.
and last but definitely NOT least:
www.come-over.to/homeschool is called "All-in-one Homeschool Resource Center" and for GOOD reason! It has TONS of stuff to check out! Plan on spending a long, lazy afternoon checking out all they have to offer.
Have fun! Thanks for those that have written and are still praying for my dad. He's had accomplishments, and set-backs...but God is STILL in control! The verses that seem to speak to us the most right now are:
"We are troubled on every side, yet not distressed; we are perplexed, but not in despair; Persecuted, but not forsaken; cast down, but not destroyed; Always bearing about in the body the dying of the Lord Jesus, that the life also of Jesus might be made manifest in our body." -2 Corinthians 4:8-10
May God ALWAYS receive the glory!
Blessings,
Mistymoo

Oct. 29, 2006 - My Hope is in God
I'm going to share a verse that was in my Bible reading today. It really
helped me, I hope it will help you too.
"Blessed is the man that trusteth in the Lord, and whose hope the Lord is.
For he shall be as a tree planted by the waters, and that spreadeth out her
roots by the river, and shall not fear when heat cometh, but her leaf shall
be green; and shall not be careful in the year of drought, neither shall
cease from yielding fruit." -Jeremiah 17:7-8
I picture a weeping willow when I read this. (One of my favorite trees!).
Here I am weeping because of what I'm going through, but I'm not without
hope. The Lord is my hope, and though I'm going through 'heat' right now, I
don't have to fear...my leaf will remain green and I will continue to bear
fruit. Isn't the Lord awesome?!
Well, need to get busy around here. I pray that your day goes well, and you are refreshed.

Sep. 29, 2006 - update and prayer request
Hello! I'm sorry it seems as I've dropped off the face of the earth.
My mother-in-law found out that her cancer had returned on June 21st and was given 6 mos. to live. She made it around 9 weeks and we buried her on the 5th of September. Meanwhile, my father was having tests run and found out 2 days after we buried my mother-in-law that his cancer was back. We've spent the month of September taking several tests, and he was operated on last Thursday. He is stage 4 now, and the surgeon said they just couldn't get it all. I suppose we will know more as soon as we can get him out of the hospital and in to the oncologist. Colon cancer is a wicked cancer and I have somewhat become a pest about people getting their colonoscopies. (If you haven't had one...it's NOT that bad...PLEASE GO!!!) Anyways, this month has been a blur of running home to the farm to keep everything up, staying with dad in the city hospital, and spending nights in other beds. School has become a hit-or-miss right now. Please pray for the family, and especially my father and his wife. We have much to deal with. I know, for I had just finished walking this road with my mother-in-law. I don't feel as though I've even gotten to grieve for her yet, as this has cropped up. Crisis to crisis, so to speak. I will soon be back with website suggestions...but first I must finish my walk down this road with my father. As it says in Psalm 34:22..."The Lord redeemth the soul of his servants; and none of them that trust in him shall be desolate." And the first words out of my dad's mouth coming out of anesthesia after the surgery, "God is STILL on the throne!" AMEN!
Love,
Mistymoo
P.S. My son just came in and said one of the cows has calved...Life DOES go on. Praise be to God from whom ALL blessings flow!

Jan. 19, 2006 - Refreshing love...
Isn't God just totally awesome?!!! I have completed a most trying year this past year...one of those years that on New Year's eve you exclaim "Good riddance!" LOL! But God is so faithful to send us just what we need to get back on track. I was reading just minutes ago at Jeannie Fulbright's blog about her printer jam and how it's all these little things that get us dragged down...but we are to praise God in ALL things. As 1Thessalonians 5:18 says,
"In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of GOD
in Christ Jesus concerning you."
Truly, at times our praise is a SACRIFICE of praise...but as it says in Hebrews 13:15-16..it is a sacrifice in which God is "well pleased". I am going to share my Thanksgiving journal entry and pray that it will bless someone too. Thanks for the reminder Jeannie...to praise God in ALL things!
Thanksgiving journal:
As I prepare for Thanksgiving, the holiday, this year I am faced with the truth of "the sacrifice of praise". Much has happened this year that in my natural mind I would've preferred to escape from. It is an awesome thing to serve a God that can bring beauty from ashes, and I look forward to seeing the fruit of righteousness that must come from this present affliction.
"For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, worketh for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory; while we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen: for the things which are seen are temporal; but the things which are not seen are eternal"
-2 Corinthians 4:17-18
"For we are saved by hope: but hope that is seen is not hope: for what a man seeth, why doeth he yet hope for? But if we hope for that we see not, then do we with patience wait for it."
-Romans 8:24-25
"For we walk by faith, not by sight."
-2 Corinthians 5:7
Most of the time, as we are in the midst of a battle, we become overwhelmed-just sure that this affliction will last forever. But we must look at things from an eternal viewpoint. Our life here on earth is such a fleeting moment, a whisp of air; and also remember that no sufferingis without gain. God IS still on the throne. He HASN'T turned His face away from us...And He DOES have a plan in this. Nothing will be wasted if we will just stay on the altar.
I sometimes picture myself lying on the altar...I've given myself to God as a living sacrificewhen I accepted His gift of salvation. But when pain comes my way, I yell, "OUCH!" and jump off the altar. "That HURTS!" I holler. But then I see the love in God's eyes and slowly, almost reluctantly, crawl back on the altar. he has a purpose. His ways are not my ways. I must submit.
"I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. And be ye not conformed (external-which will eventually affect you internally) to this world: but be ye transformed (begins inside and eventually affects the outside) byt the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God".
-Romans 12:1-2
So, as we stay on the altar, a living sacrifice, submitted to His will...we are transformed. As we are transformed, we begin to understand the will of God.
"Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ."
-Philippians 1:6
Our path is not always easy, but our path IS straight. Usually as I'm praying for God to show me His will concerning something, I have to say, "Lord, you KNOW me. Make the path easily seen, put up big lights, maybe some bright, flashing light. You know I want to follow your way, but I have such trouble seeing." Sometimes He WILL make it easier for me to see, but at other times-most of the times- He just gives me enough light to take just the next small step. I'm impatient. I want to see the end result. But isn't He merciful? How many of us, if faced with what the whole path has to offer to get to the end, would be too afraid to start on that path? We'd be overwhelmed if we saw it all. All the trials, tribulations, set-backs. So God, in His loving mercy, lights the way for our next step, and never leaves us not one single step, to face the path on our own.
So with an understanding of His great love and mercy-we are able to obey and in EVERY thing give thanks. Let us bring the sacrifice of praise and lay it at the feet of the God who loves us more than we can comprehend.
Well, if you are still with me, LOL, I hope that you are encouraged and strengthened to continue in your walk. Let us ALL remember to not grow weary in well-doing. I sure would like to reap the good things that God has promised us if we don't faint.
I will post later with another wonderful website suggestion. May your day be peaceful and full of joy!
BLessings,
Mistymoo

Oct. 25, 2005 - Quarterly Website? *sigh*
Okay, life has gotten even MORE busy, so I am sorry to those who have emailed me and wondered where my website suggestions have gone. Here is one for today, and I will TRY to post more regularly. Thanks for thinking of me though!
Today's website has TONS of links! Links to coloring pages, bible quizzes, holidays, lesson plans, etc... I'm going to be spending some time today checking out all their links to Thanksgiving-related things.
Also, when you pray, please remember my father in your prayers. I've been MIA here because my father has been through 3 major surgeries since July and the last one removed an orange-sized tumor from his colon. He is trying to heal up so he can start chemo and radiation, as it was cancer. Along with that, my mother-in-law, that many know we just moved down to the farm here, has been in quite a bit of pain from shingles. Between taking her to the dr's and to get more pain meds, and being with dad at the hospital and at home, I'm just meeting myself coming and going. But as my dad says, "God is STILL on the throne, and He will get us through this too." Sometimes I second-guess myself on moving an hour and a half away from the city though! (Mainly on one of the many trips a week using almost $3 a gallon gas. *sigh*) So, I covet your prayers on behalf of my family.
Blessings for your day!

Jul. 8, 2005 - Website of the Week
Okay, I'm going to attempt...mind you, I said ATTEMPT, to list a favorite website for each week. For this week (okay, I KNOW this week is basically over...but you have to start somewhere, and if I put it off until Monday it won't get done!)...now where was I? hmm...oh yes...for THIS week, my pick is http://refdesk.com
There is something for EVERYONE there! Some of the items are:
dictionaries, encyclopedias, news, history, weather, word of the day, homework helper, even a vet manual for us farm-dwellers.
So run on over there and check it out!

Jul. 8, 2005 - First time tagged...and learning!
Well, I finally got a breather to jump on the computer and check my blog. I'm hoping to do better when things settle down. My dad is out of the hospital, and as I'm typing...my mother-in-law's mobile home is being laborously inched up our drive. :-) She lost her husband in April and is coming to live with us here on the farm. We will be busy moving her in tomorrow...so I might be long in checking my blog AGAIN! But it's a GOOD busy, so we take it how it comes. Anyways, I found myself 'tagged' by belovedlamb, and she was gracious enough to explain to me what that means...LOL!...so here's my answers:
Q: How many pics of you do you have?
A: Very, very few! I seem to be the one BEHIND the camera. :-)
Q: How many times have you moved?
A: Well, as a child, I only moved 2 times! But since marriage, 10 more times. :-)
Q: How old were you when you learned your ABC's?
A: hahaha! That was a LONG time ago....Does it count that I STILL know them? ;-)
Q: Do you think these questions are too hard?
A: Not today...the mind is mostly working today. hehehe
Q: How many computers are in your home?
A: Just the one I'm plunking away on now. The older children took computers with them.
Hmm, now to find people to tag!
Blessings for your day!

Jun. 20, 2005 - WELCOME!
Welcome to my place on the web! I've been homeschooling for 19 yrs. and have 2 adult children. As John says in the 3rd epistle of John, "I have no greater joy than to hear that my children walk in truth." III John 1:4
I hope to use this blog to keep up with friends and family, to suggest websites that I have found helpful, and anything else I can come up with.
Stop on in from time to time and see what we have new.
Blessings for your day!
