Live Birth Blog #4

Well, she or he is here...I don't have a verdict on the gender because she's having a hard time getting on her feet.  Clarabelle's water broke about 11am and we all set up camp to watch her for the duration...I'll post pictures later on.  The boys and Susanna got bored within about 20 minutes, so Julia, Sammy, Brittany and I sat on chairs in the pasture watching everything.  The calf was born at about 12:30pm in a shady little spot in the back of the pasture.  We've been watching momma take care of her little one since then.

I'll post pictures later today.

Well, in a few more weeks, we, as your readers, would like to set up camp while you go into labor and give birth! We'll even pitch in and buy you some hay! We can post your blog for you and give everyone the details!

You're hilarious, Orena!! Wouldn't that be great fun! Thankfully, I won't have to do it outside on a 95 degree day whilst swatting flies...and I won't be licking my baby clean, either!

Sounds like she couldn't wait until Tuesday, I hope all is well.
Our goofy neighbor, brought his visiting mom over to our place once to the view a new calf - he asked if she licked him off when he was born. LOL, she was mad, and I still crack up when I think of that. Thanks for reminding me. Nita

I am so happy for you that your cow seems to have come through with all well! My first Jersey gave me fits the first time she calved. Which may have had something to do with my being used to Holsteins. We're old hat with it now though, as she just had her forth calf this spring, and I have three milking daughters off of her. Congrats on the baby.
