Jan. 23, 2007 - Getting ready for baby

Okay I am now 36 weeks pregnant and definately feel like I'm at the end. It's hard to move.....the contractions...the pressure....the pains...oh my. I suddenly realized I had nothing prepared for sweet baby Jake so last night we went to Sams and loaded up on everything from food to laundry detergent to diapers. Then we headed off to Target to check off the things I needed for our home birth. I got all the clothes washed and put away so now I am ready to have a baby! We still don't know where he will sleep....Emma is still in the crib and I do hate to buy another. We had 2 cribs but I gave one away so I am waiting to see what happens.

I have been struggling with the need to clean the deepest corners of the house and my physical inabilities. My husband asked me to give it up....in his words "there are 5 kids running around...it's not going to stay clean til the baby is born." I know that. It's hard to keep things clean from morning til night but I still have that instinct of needing a sterile house to have the  baby. Laundry all folded and put away, dishes always done, fridge always stocked, bathrooms gleaming, no spills on the floor. Oh well. Those times don't exist. As soon as the laundry is caught up.....there are 7 changes of clothes and someone will wet the bed!

Life is good though and I am so thankful for this new blessing and we are all anxious for him to show his sweet little head!

Hi Amy! Sounds like you're really getting ready for your baby. I know how you feel about having the house all ready to go.....I deep cleaned both of our bathrooms so far this month and the coat closet, but I don't see how in the world I'll get the rest of the house finished. One day at a time....even though I know that it will get messed up again, there's something about wiping down walls and cleaning corners that makes me feel better--it certainly won't get done AFTER baby arrives! LOL! I can't wait to hear your news....are you usually early or late?

Mary comes here tomorrow. I always look forward to her visits. I have to admit--I laughed when I read your story of burning a hole through your shirt. I'm glad you didn't hurt yourself though!

Best wishes!! Email or blog as soon as you can after Jake arrives. I'm anxious to hear how your homebirth goes!!!
