A Day In Her Life...

Sep. 9, 2006 - Gah!

I'm so PHENOMINALLY pathetic at updating this I don't know why I bother anymore. Nothing much has been happening lately, the first week of school's been pretty fun. I like the new curriculum a load, tis great! I've got virtual classes which are pretty awesome. ^^

Meh, I'm exhausted! We had to load wood into our basement today, as our wood stove is the main source of heat for our house in the winter. Bleh. Hardly seems worth it to me. Oh well. I've got a youth group thing to go to tonight, which isn't sounding all that awesome right now. Oh well.

And now, for the story. Everyone's though it's really good so far so hopefully you will too. I really like writing adn this is about the quality I have when I'm in the middle of a good mood. So there.

Claidis was displeased.

Not that this was anything out of the ordinary of course, she had taken to darker and darker moods since her leg had broken. It was healing fine, as well as could be expected without a cleric's aid. But Claidis was still bedridden and the fact that she could barely shift positions without feeling the break made her increasingly irate.

Again, this wasn't unheard of for the woman. How could one not slide into moods such as she did while being in the servitude of Moridin? Still, using her particularly nasty branch of magic against two of the servants wasn't justified by this. The two had been removed from the places they'd fallen by others, and since their deaths no one was thrilled with the idea of being in Claidis presence for to long.

Perhaps the blood red haired assassin's angst laid in a different direction. She hadn't quite gotten over Moridin changing her hair color from it's original hot pink to the shade it was now. Claidis could hold a grudge, and a stong one at that, when her hair was an issue.

Claidis was currently in an upright position in her bed, fumbling through her book of killing magic, studying that which she already knew and finding no joy in it. She was bored. As her eyes traveled across the countless words of a different tongue and their translations underneath, Claidis muttered a vile word against all things death related. She supposed, after some thought, that it included herself as well now. She and everyone else stuck to Moridin and Mortis, or their wives for that matter. Claidis snapped the priceless book shut and hurled it across the room with a force that didn't befit her wirey frame, and it took a good while before she could even begin to relax.

"Curse you, even being your personal hitman was better than this," Claidis growled under her breath. She figured Moridin could hear her as well as someone standing with their ear to her mouth could, though had that been the case Claidis would have probably shouted out of spite. Claidis had never liked feeling useless, even when her only use was to kill who Moridin wanted killed, and now she felt more useless than she had before the assassin's guild had taken her in. There had been no job for her magic outside the fortress' walls, and now there was none inside as well.

And anothe rone since I'm searching through my archieves....

I remember her. Miseraris. Probably one of my nastiest cousins; one of those who was constantly playing pranks on me. You know, classics like a bucket of water over a half open door, and the more imaginative ones like shock pads in my bed. Spiders were plentiful in that place.... My home.

Or at least, what used to be. It was in a realm not easily acessed by anyone, even several of the more powerful dragoons had either no knowledge of it or to little to find it, much less portal to it. We kept it that way, my family and I. But it wasn't safe from everyone, and I learned that out for myself. My grandparents could easily enough plant the knowledge of our realm in someone's mind, whoever they saw fit. On these rare occasions, someone other than a family member entered the realm, and if they got lucky, the House.

I remember the House. It was, in short, huge. The balcony was a 50 foot sheer drop onto a marble path that lead through the gardens. The walls were made of white stone, embeded with gems here and there. The gems were sharp, but didn't hurt us. Well, they didn't hurt anyone but me. The fountains that resided in some hallway intersections water was freezing cold to the touch, and would have turned your stomach to ice had you tried to drink it. Everyone could drink it and not feel the cold except me.

The House was a cruel place, and I see that now, but back then it was home. Just home. A safe haven from the dangers outside, dangers I had a right to be afraid of back then. But of course, with hundreds of cousins indoors, that place held it's own perils, especially for me....

And I remember him. Mortis. The first to find the House and it's realm on their own; and the last. He opened a portal while we were all eating lunch. We all stared; most hadn't seen a portal before, much less any kind of magic other than our own. He walked in and looked around as though he was in a harem. Mortis' had black hair; something that was fairly uncommon in the House. And his eyes.... Well, the color was red, but they went much deeper than that. It seemed like he looked at the hundreds of us in a glance, and when he saw me I felt cold and... just bad. It felt like my blood had gone rancid and my stomach had tied itself around my ribcage. I think I was the only one who felt this way... Poor powerless Alainne, I was mocked for mentioning this later.

Then he saw Miseraris. He said something to her, and she seemed to agree. Then everything after that was hazy. I think it was a spell, but it was something I couldn't deflect. For that matter I couldn't deflect anything.... When I next remember, everyone was looking for Miseraris and the man who seemed to have disappeared with her. Or taken her; whichever the case was, I was glad both were gone.

They would reappear in my life later, both of them. I can't say I'm pleased about it; Miseraris has shifted from pranks to destruction and devistation in one fell swoop. She married Mortis it turns out; and almost unheard of event in the House, since the vast majority of my cousins were female. As for Mortis... He's still around. He always will be I'm sure. The two of them are always keeping an eye on things from... Wherever they are. Always.

And one more. I FINALLY found the one I was searching for int he first place. Go me!

Just as the Illian capital was being rebuilt, so was a force that might take it down again. Sadie Dragonfang could feel the all-to-familiar force gaining strength as it traveled through enemy countries and gained allies. It was familiar because it was that of her parents.

Sadie and her brother Darc had left home at a very young age. It was probably one of the best things that had ever happened to them, and the worst mistake they'd ever made rolled into one. The former because if they hadn't, Darc would never have had the chance to meet his wife Breanne in anything other than combat, and Sadie would have very few friends that cared about her. The latter, because the two never had the chance to built up a sturdy sense of loyalty to their parents. Breanne was the daughter of one of Leith and Moridin Dragonfang's worst enemies, and there had been quite a stir when they'd found out Darc was in love (and would soon be married to) her.

After his parents reaction, Darc had left home, and his parents side in the war, so he could be with Breanne. Sadie had hesitently followed, mainly because Darc was her other half, and to seperate the two of them was unthinkable. Now however, she was beginnign to doubt her decision of leaving her parents for the second time, and it had sent her mind into turmoil.

                                           **************

Sadie left one of the massive dorm tents of the makeshift Illian camp, her entire body concealed by a hooded cloak. With very little hesitation, she made her way swiftly out of the camp and into a patch of hilly ground, the place that would best conceal her without going to the mountains that seperated Illia and it's rival country, Bern. As soon as she made it to the other side of the first hill, Sadie shed her cloak just before her quickly growing, black scaled dragon wings burst from the back and turned the fabric into a shreded pile of useless cloth. Sadie's usually pale face was covered with the scales, as was what was visable of her body. Her fingers were much longer than any human's (though she wasn't human herself, she usually looked like one except for her wings), and a thick membrane was developing between them. Her clothes began ripping and tearing as she grew in size, her wings staying in proportion no matter how large she grew.

Sadie's size wasn't the only thing that was changing. Her brilliant green eyes were gaining slits instead of pupils, and the iris grew until there was no white left. With one final ripping sound, Sadie writhed out of her clothes and crouched in the full moon's light. Instead of a human's body, a dragon's was where her intelligence resided. A long, whip like tail with a silvery tip lashed back and forth. There was membrane between all five of her foreclaws, and between her toes as well now. Sadie's mouth and nose had shifted to that of a dragon's as well, small tendrils of smoke wafting from her nostrils. Two spines came from the back of her head, and these were tipped with silver along with her claws.

Sadie raised her muzzle and let loose a piercing shriek, a noise that raised in pitch until it was a sound no human voice could utter. For several painful seconds, the cry stayed at that shrill level, then it quietd gradually until the only thing that was heard was the rustle of the grass as Sadie's tail swished over it. Tears fell from Sadie's eyes, turning to diamonds as all dragons' did as soon as it touched the magic aura around her body. These slipped to the ground, making no noise until there was enough of them that occasionally they fell on eachother with soft *****ing noises.

Sadie tore at the ground with her foreclaws, ripping great chunks of earth from it in her mind's anguish. Sadie uttered another mournful cry, though this one wasn't as horrific as the last, and climbed to the top of the hill that looked over the Illian camp. She'd been wondering which side she should choose to be on for this war; her parents' or her brother's. She loved them all very much, though she often disagreed with the choices her parents had made. Sadie's tail writhed around on the ground behind her as though it had a mind of it's own for a few minutes, as Sadie thought.

There were two choices before her, and neither appealed very much. She could join Darc's side and betray her parents as he had, or she could rejoin their side if they'd have her, and betray the friends she'd gained and her brother. Neither choice satisfied Sadie in the least. After several hours of thought, a very faint glow was beginning to prick from the edge of the horizen. As the tip of the sun followed, Sadie had made her choice.

She'd join neither side.

Though it hurt Sadie to no end, she turned from the Illian camp and spread her wings. With several beats, she was airborn, and headed away from it, towards one of the northern countries, one that resided near the Nabata desert. She hadn't sensed her parents there, and knew Illia and Bern had little dealings with the country to Illia's north. She'd be safe there, and would stay away from everything until the war was over. Sadie had no idea how long it would take, but she'd wait it out. Sadie wouldn't allow any of her family members to be killed however, and would prevent such an occurance if need be. Her protection extended over her 5 year old neices, and Breanne's family as well.

And so, without looking back, Sadie had done the unthinkable, and had seperated herself from her brother. Besides, who'd want a girl who couldn't choose sides and could heal others, but not her own heart and mind?

So there you have it. Samples of my writing. Have fun with the long read. XD

Aug. 18, 2006 - Alright alright alright

So I'm n ot going to be the most faithful about making jounral entries every day. Oh well. There just hasn't been that much to write about to be honest, nothing's going on. My boyfriend's at the beach so I haven't got a whole lot to do, I've been watching a TON of tv lately, and am REALLY appreciating the HD channels we've got. For some reason all movies seem better in HD. Especially with surround sound. War of the Worls in particular. OH! And Catwoman, as stupid a movie as it is, it pretty cool too. We've got a widescreen tv, VEEEEERY nice for movie nights. And we can finally make use of our widescreen DVDs.

Eh, so other than that little rant on how awesome our tv is, there's not much to talk about really. Nothing's been happening in my roleplaying because my boyfriend's out-of-town, and he's the main person I rp with anyway. So I've got all these creative things running around in my head and nowhere to put them. I wrote a couple of stories yesterday but it didn't quite satisfy the urge to write. Oh well, it'll go away this weekend. Hopefully. X_x

Aug. 14, 2006 - My first entry ever. How exciting.

Note the sarcasm. I've done the blogging thing before, so at least I'm not TOTALLY helpless. Much to everyone's dissapointment I'm sure. Kidding, kidding....

Alright, there's not much to say really. A friend invited me so.... Here I am. ^^ I hope you all don't expect any incredibly intelligent entries, because if you do, you'l be disappointed. Most of this'll probably be senseless ramblings, a story of three, and maybe an update on what I'm currently roleplaying. Yep. I roleplay. It's fun as heck, I've been doing it for a little over two years now. It's pretty awesome.

I can' wait to start school, but I have to wait until the 30th. How INCREDIBLY frustrating. I would have started a couple weeks back if I had my materials and whatnot, but unfortunatly that's the way things work. I'm going into 9th grade, and I'm glad to finally be in highschool. ^^ Finally. Until this point I was just a highschooler in my own mind.....
