Dec. 26, 2008
Ending 2008 with a smile.
The year is coming to an end. As usual I waited until the last minute to shop and surprisingly it wasn't too stressful. Our list was shorter this year. As many others we only did close family members and our close friends. Buying was more meaningful this year. The kids got less but still too much. We talked about what the gift of love means. They are sweeties.
This past year has been tough with Mom having cancer and several surgeries for back fractures. However God has been with us and carrying her at times. She is now cancer free. Days are still tough at times but managable. She is suffering from the effects of osteo arthritis. Any suggestions out there?
We didn't have Chad with us but did get several phone calls and he will be home in a few weeks for a visit.
We are blessed.

About Me
I love nature, sewing, scouting and quotes...An educational system isn't worth a great deal if it teaches young people how to make a living but doesn't teach them how to make a life.
Unknown-----------------------------
Happy moments, praise God.
Difficult moments, seek God.
Quiet moments, worship God.
Painful moments, trust God.
Every moment, thank God.

"I am beginning to suspect all elaborate and special systems of education. They seem to me to be built upon the supposition that every child is a kind of idiot who must be taught to think. Whereas, if the child is left to himself, he will think more and better, if less showily. Let him go and come freely, let him touch real things and combine his impressions for himself, instead of sitting indoors at a little round table, while a sweet-voiced teacher suggests that he build a stone wall with his wooden blocks, or make a rainbow out of strips of coloured paper, or plant straw trees in bead flower-pots. Such teaching fills the mind with artificial associations that must be got rid of, before the child can develop independent ideas out of actual experience." -- Anne Sullivan
