Aug. 30, 2007 - Update on us
It has been a while since I posted. Sorry. We have been very busy of late.
We are of course busy with our homeschool activities. This year the kids are in a homeschool enrichment program at the YMCA. So far we love it! It's more physical fitness stuff, but they also offer other things too. The kids are taking karate, art, spanish, and music in addition to swimming, volleyball, and tennis. They only meet once a week on Tuesdays. They have fun learning while mom gets to workout! I love it. It's great.
So, far out homeschool schedule is working out just fine and everyone is doing good. I am still having a hard time with Samuel and Daniel 0n their reading, but we are working on it.
Amanda and baby are doing fine. She is still experiencing morning sickness (not only in the morning) but she is fine.
My husband is having problems managing his diabetes and has been on a roller coaster it seems with his blood sugar. We are changing how we eat drastically. Anyone have any suggestions? Recipes for diabetics? Any advice? your ideas and prayers are much appreciated.

Wow, you really do have a lot going on! I'll be praying for all of y'all.
I had the all-day-night morning sickness too. Blech. Whenever I found something that worked, it eventually stopped working and then I had to find something new (sucking on a lemon, candied ginger, spicy anything, etc). What worked best was to just go to sleep. Needless to say, I slept A LOT.
*sigh* It is so hard to take care of everything and worry about hubby. Big ((((hugs)))) to you! Allrecipes has some articles on diabetes as well as links to healthy recipes: http://allrecipes.com/Info/Healthy-Eating/Diabetes/Main.aspx
You could probably find some good cookbooks at a used book store like Half-Priced Books.
Hope you have a great week, Donna! Hang in there, my friend.
Love,

I think this is the first time I've been to your blog.
I just wanted to tell you I'm praying for your daughters and your whole family. It must be a total shock and I'm sure you are struggling, that would be perfectly normal. ((hugs))

Oct. 30, 2007 - managing diabetes |

Have you ever heard of Dr. John McDougall? drmcdougall.com; he has cured many diabetics of all medication in 10 days. It's a vegan, starch-based diet, which may be too extreme for most. We eat this way about 75% of the time.
(this is not spam, or a sales pitch, just wanted to pass the info along, since you asked about managing your husband's diabetes.)
God Bless!
