Jan. 15, 2008 - TADA!!
This is my new theme! What do you think? I absolutely love it. I could not have done this without help of course, and that help came from Allison Tefler at Mission Field Designs. She has done a terrific job!
Now I have a question (that is totally unrelated) lol. Does anyone know much about hosting a baby shower? I am trying to plan one for my daughter who is due in March. I have some game ideas, but not sure how things should go. Do we play the games first? Do we eat last, or open presents last? Any suggestions would be greatly apprecitated!
Also, if anyone knows where I can get a great deal on baby slings, let me know. Thanks!

I really fun game is to ask those attending to bring or give you a copy of their baby picture. Then you can play a guessing game. It is so much fun! Also another fun one is to get a baby magazine and tear out advertisements (taking away the actual company name)- only show the picture for the ad and see if they can guess the company. Usually food is first, then they can finish eating while games start (or a devotional is given). Then gifts opened. Another great idea for your daughter is to buy a pack of thank you notes for her and have the envelopes at the shower. Pass them around and ask each person to address the envelope to themselves then put them in a basket. This frees up her time some with writing thank yous and she knows that she has the correct addresses for everyone. Hope you have a terrific baby shower!

I love your new blog look. I have a hard time reading your light pink font but the rest is great.
As far as the baby shower. All the ones I have been to and had, we played game(s) first, then opened presents and washed it all down w/ Cake!!!!
My favorite game to play at a baby shower is the candy bar game. I googled it and found it for you.

A great way to play this is have the print out, set a time to fill it out, then when you actually give the answers have the candy bars to give out. Everyone gets to go home w/ a yummy treat from this game.
I hope I have helped.
Again great new look.

I like it, I like it! That Ali is one talented gal, isn't she? Plus she is just FUN.
As to the baby shower, definitely EAT FIRST. Man, there is nothing more miserable than enduring games when your stomach is a growlin'. With a full stomach, games can be fun, but empty stomach? Just enduring.
Hmmm... I know I have a baby shower post somewhere in my archives. My sisters and I threw one for my oldest sis and it was a blast. Tons 'o fun! I'll have to look for it and let you know.
Happy planning, my friend!
Love,

Happy Belated Birthday! (I noticed your b-day listed in your profile.) :) (I'm was born same year, but in the 12th month.) :)
Thanks for the comment about "quirks." My dh made a comment about our 5 yo being able to read and decipher words better than our almost 8 yo. I've not really done anything differently with her... other than she heard my attempts to help her older sister learn.
I'm no expert on baby showers, but I think it's best to open gifts after the games and food. At a pre-birth baby shower for my older daughter, my hostess had everyone guess the size of my waist. I don't remember if there were prizes, but it was fun to see everyone's guesses. :)
Now that I've nearly written a book, guess I'll close out this comment. Thanks again for visiting... hope you can come back again soon and I'll try to do the same.

Thanks for the encouraging words on my blog.
I noticed a previous post on your twin's not reading yet. My son is about to be ten and we had alot of growth in his skills when I purchased Click N Read online. If you use my email address they will give you $10 off the price. It is Lifetime and can be used over and over again with different children (only one at a time or you can add on students for a little more money.) This is the BEST results we have had and I've tried too many phonics programs to count!!!
God Bless You and Yours and I believe they are doing better with you than they'd be doing in a classroom. Even if they aren't reading they are learning SO MUCH MORE just by living with you and spending time with you at home!!!
Love in Jesus,
