Aug. 15, 2008 - Something to share

Hey!

I just got an email from my friend, Cindy Rushton.  She has just introduced a super new set for those who want (or need) real help getting organized for the new school year. She is "pumped" about having it all online right in time to help you get ready for your new school year.

This set is amazing! It includes two bonuses that are normally cost more than the price of the set:

1. Organization 911 Seminar Set (over 24 audio sessions!)
2. Let's Get Organized Seminar Set (Cindy's newest audio set!)

Actually, Cindy told me that she is so excited that she decided to share a sneak peek into some of the goodies included in this set.

Anyway, that brings me to the reason that I am sharing with you...

Cindy just sent me permission to give you a sampler of one of her free gifts that is included on the Download Page. I am so excited to give it to you! It is a audio that she actually sells on her website, but she is giving away as a bonus gift with this set. Here is the link so you can check it out:

Restoring Balance To Completely Overloaded Lives… with Cindy Rushton

Overloaded!  Busy! Hurried! Overworked! Stressed! Rushed! Relate?? This is reality for most in our culture today--EVEN homeschooling families! We exceed our limits. We take on WAY TOO MUCH! We write checks that our body and mind cannot cash!  Everything (and EVERYONE) suffers. It gets harder and harder to hear God as He whispers direction, encouragement, and wisdom along our path. We miss the best! We wonder why we end our days empty and without meaning or accomplishment. We forget what is most important—or at minimum, put it off for another day.  The important seldom screams for attention, but the urgent, often insignificant, constantly screams for MORE and more! We get so busy and distracted doing the urgent and demanding in life that we lose the opportunity to impact the important, that in which we are given to leave a legacy! So, how on earth do we get out of this rat race? How are we to restore balance? If we could restore balance, how could we maintain balance?  How could we make life really count for something?  In this workshop, Cindy shares what the Lord has taught her He pulled me back from so many GOOD things to restore balance and keep me on the path to leaving a legacy! Join Cindy for a workshop that will change your life as it has changed hers!

Isn't that FUN?

You know the saying that a picture captures a thousand words,well...what about a a gift like this???  And, just think...this is only a sampling of Cindy's teaching. You get tons more with this set.  Take my word for it, you will WANT this set and access to all of the wonderful resources. Grab your set here today:

May. 28, 2008 - The Twins' Birthday!

May 26th was more than just Memorial Day for us. It was Samuel and Daniel’s 11th birthday. It is hard for me to believe they are that old. My babies. In some ways it is sad, and in other ways it is exciting to see them grow. I love my children so much! They will soon all be grown and gone. But, then I can focus on being NaNa! lol Today, I took the boys to Baskin Robbins to get their free ice cream cones and then they got a slush from Sonic. I let them play video games all day and tonight I will fix their favorite dinner. Tater Tot Casserole! Oh and they had no chores today! Pretty good day. Their actual birthday party is not until this weekend. We will have a cookout and swim at my mom’s house Saturday to celebrate.

May. 20, 2008 - Car Woes

On Mother's Day our one and only car, a Dodge Intrepid, broke down. Bit the dust. Blew up.  Not good.
Well, we bought another car to do until we get the other car a new engine and fixed. It is a gold Dodge Intrepid.  Yep, we will have his and hers Intrepids. lol  It looks good, and we will have two vehicles again saving us on gas.  I still would like for Bruce to have his scooter/motorcycle to drive to and from work saving us even more on gas.  But, this will do for now.

May. 1, 2008 - Wisdom's Gate

From: Wisdom's Gate
Subject: Wisdom's Gate announces subscriptions for WHATEVER YOU CAN AFFORD!
Dear Friend,
We have been very concerned about the strain that the poor economy is placing on our readers. Many families are struggling just to make ends meet and have virtually nothing left at the end of the month. We have also experienced the effects of these inflationary costs in the rising expense of printing and shipping of our magazines. However, after much prayer and seeking the Lord, we are taking a step of faith. We do NOT want a lack of funds to keep ANYONE from receiving the spiritual and practical encouragement of our magazines. If you have been wanting to receive: An Encouraging Word Magazine (for Christian Women of all ages) Home School Digest Journal (Family Discipleship magazine) Brush Arbor Quarterly Magazine (on Revival and Deeper Life) but have been hindered because of finances, please do not let that stand in your way. We are making these three magazines available to you for literally WHATEVER YOU CAN AFFORD! Please help us get the word out about this offer to your friends and family members who would benefit from our publications. Prayerfully consider forwarding this email to your email list, posting it on your blog, printing it out for your church bulletin board, or giving it out at your next small group or homeschool meeting.
To subscribe for WHATEVER YOU CAN AFFORD, please visit http://www.WisdomsGate.com or call 1-800-343-1943.
Please pray for us as we embrace this new act of obedience to God's direction for our ministry.
Your servant,
Israel Wayne Marketing Director (for all of us here at Wisdom's Gate) www.HomeSchoolDigest.com; www.AnEncouragingWo rd.net; www.BrushArborQuarterly.net; www.WisdomsGate. org

Jan. 17, 2008 - My crisis

Tuesday was not a good day.  It started first thing that morning when I was giving the twins their medication and vitamins.  I knew something was wrong the moment I picked up the Flintstone vitamin bottle.  it was nearly empty, and I had just bought it about 3 days prior.  They had eaten them all!  All but eight of them anyway. So, I spent the morning on the phone with the doctor and poison control.  Anyway, they are going to be fine.  They would have had to eat 177 of them before it would be a concern and there wasn't that much in the bottle.  Thank God.  But, now they have to drink lots of water, nothing with calcium in it, and eat lots of fiber rich foods because they are going to be constipated too as a result of this.  But, other than that they will be fine.   Just thought I would share.

Jan. 15, 2008 - TADA!!

This is my new theme!  What do you think?  I absolutely love it.  I could not have done this without help of course, and that help came from Allison Tefler at Mission Field Designs.  She has done a terrific job!
Now I have a question (that is totally unrelated) lol.   Does anyone know much about hosting a baby shower?  I am trying to plan one for my daughter who is due in March.  I have some game ideas, but not sure how things should go.  Do we play the games first?  Do we eat last, or open presents last?  Any suggestions would be greatly apprecitated!
Also, if anyone knows where I can get a great deal on baby slings, let me know.  Thanks!

Jan. 9, 2008 - New Theme

I have been trying for some time to fix my blog and have a new theme.  I am not doing very well with it at all. This theme does not show my friends list.  I don't like that.  I am not very good at html.  My experience is very limited.  If anyone out there can help or offer advice I would appreciate it!

Jan. 9, 2008 - New Year, New Me, New blog!!

I always get excited about starting a new year.  I love new beginnings.  No, I am not going to write about me goals or resolutions, but I do have some.
My birthday is Friday the 11th.  I would not be bothered by me being 38, but on top of that I am a grandmother twice over this year!!
On the homeschool front, I am glad to be back to our studies!  I am a little discouraged about the twins' progress.  They will be 11 in May and are still not reading.  My husband thinks maybe we should put them in ps.  I am not sure.  The doctor wants them re-evaluated.  It is always hard to go to these things and have them question my decision to homeschool and the fact that the boys are still not reading.  Doesn't look good, know what I mean?  It makes me feel like a failure.  Anyway, I am praying about it.  Please pray for us to have an answer and for the reading to 'click' with the boys.  Thank you my HSB friends.

Dec. 9, 2007 - Special Advent offer!!

Hello Friends!!

I just found a Special Report that you might be interested in.

My friend, Kerry Beck was concerned with the way America is taking Christ out of Christmas. Kerry and her husband, found some real life stories demonstrating the political correctness of our new "holiday", as well as the way to celebrate Christmas the
politically incorrect way.

She compiled all the stories into a Special Report, called "Over
the Top and Politically Incorrect Christmas Stories - 2006". You can
get your own copy at:

http://mom26kidz.CCADVENT.hop.clickbank.net

When you get to that page, you might look at some of the books Kerry wrote to put back the true meaning of Christmas in your family's celebration.

Blessings,

Donna Scott

ps. Send me an email about your thoughts on celebrating Christmas!

Aug. 30, 2007 - Update on us

It has been a while since I posted. Sorry.  We have been very busy of late.

We are of course busy with our homeschool activities.  This year the kids are in a homeschool enrichment program at the YMCA.  So far we love it!  It's more physical fitness stuff, but they also offer other things too.  The kids are taking karate, art, spanish, and music in addition to swimming, volleyball, and tennis.  They only meet once a week on Tuesdays.  They have fun learning while mom gets to workout!  I love it.  It's great.

So, far out homeschool schedule is working out just fine and everyone is doing good.  I am still having a hard time with Samuel and Daniel 0n their reading, but we are working on it.

Amanda and baby are doing fine.  She is still experiencing morning sickness (not only in the morning) but she is fine.

My husband is having problems managing his diabetes and has been on a roller coaster it seems with his blood sugar.  We are changing how we eat drastically.  Anyone have any suggestions?  Recipes for diabetics?  Any advice?  your ideas and prayers are much appreciated.

Donna Scott

Feb. 10, 2007 - writing

As you know I am new to web design and subscriptions and RSS feeds.  So, if things do not work out right the first time please be patient with me, I will fix it.  Thank you to all my friends who did subscribe.  The first broadcast went out last night.  It did not send what i wanted it too though.  But, it will the next time.  It is my goal to have a newsletter up soon for you to subscribe to.

I just attended an online writer's seminar put on by  Cindy Rushton. She is an awesome lady!  If you have not heard of Cindy or checked out her products you really should.  You will be blessed I assure you.  She has inspired me in my writing.

Our home is undergoing a huge makeover (in more ways than one)  I guess you could say we are spring cleaning a little early.  I just feel the need to clean up and simplify.  A little spiritual cleaning up as well. (but that is another post)  God wants us to have our lives in order.  Satan is the author of confusion.  So, with that being said, we are bringing some much need order back to our lives.  I will keep you posted.  Anyone have any suggestions or comments?  Please do leave your comments.  I love my online friends.  As fellow christian women, we can help one another and encourage each other.  It will be my goal in my writng to be an encourager.

Blessings,Donna

P.S.  I dont know why my hyperlinks are not working.  You can go to cindy's blog and website from my friends list.  sorry.

Dec. 3, 2006 - My favorite cookie recipe!!

CHOCOLATE BUTTER COOKIES
CHOCOLATE BUTTER COOKIES

A rich, chocolate butter cookie that can easily be formed into a variety of shapes.

Preparation time: 30 min   Chilling time: 2 hrs   Baking time: 7 min
Yield: 3 dozen cookies

3/4   cup sugar
3/4   cup LAND O LAKES® Butter, softened
1   egg
1   teaspoon almond extract
1 2/3   cups all-purpose flour
1/3   cup unsweetened cocoa

Combine sugar and butter in large mixer bowl. Beat at medium speed, scraping bowl often, until creamy. Add egg and almond extract; continue beating until well mixed. Reduce speed to low; beat, gradually adding flour and cocoa and scraping bowl often, until well mixed.

Divide dough into thirds. Wrap each third in plastic food wrap; refrigerate until firm (2 hours or overnight).

Heat oven to 375°F. Shape dough with floured hands, one-third at a time (keep remaining dough refrigerated), into 1-inch balls. Form balls into desired shapes (balls, squares, logs, etc.) or follow variations as directed below. Place 1 inch apart onto ungreased cookie sheets. Bake for 7 to 9 minutes or until set. (Surface may crack slightly.) Cool completely. Decorate as desired.

VARIATIONS:

Nut Rolls: Shape dough into 2 to 3-inch logs. Bake as directed. Cool completely. Dip both ends of each cookie into melted chocolate chips, then in finely chopped nuts.

Surprise–Filled: Shape dough into 1-inch balls. Make depression in center of each cookie with back of teaspoon. Bake as directed. Cool completely. Fill with maraschino cherry half. Spoon melted vanilla milk chips over top of cookie.

TIP: If you want to use a cookie press to form cookies, it is not necessary to chill dough before forming cookies.

TIP: Too much flour can make your cookies dry and crumbly. To measure flour, lightly spoon flour into measuring cup and level off with a straight edge.
