Independence Day

We celebrated the 4th of July  in the same way we have for all 15 years we have lived here. The local parade,  swimming, and the recent addition of fireworks in the backyard, now that they are legal here.

The big change this year was the absence of Carolyn, who left just before the parade, heading for a horse camp in PA with a visit to Niagra Falls before camp starts. She has attended (or more often been in) every parade since she was 7 mo old and we hated not having her there, but I know she will have a great week at camp.

We have just finalized all the franchise development stuff for Paparonni's Pizza and had a theme of "Own Your Own Slice " for the float. We were stumped for ideas this year and I asked for help on the MOMYS digest and was able to put together several suggestions to put together the float.  Thanks  to all who brainstormed for me it really helped.

Here are some pics of the float.

I just had to add funny p.s. to the parade story.

Little miss Madelyn managed to get "baby" to the float before it was noticed. When bedtime rolled around "baby" was missing. After playing back the days events I realized she was probably in the bathrooms of the old elementary school that we used on our way back to the van. This school is not currently being used for anything so Ron called the parade organizer to see how we could get in. He said to........"call the MAYOR!!!". The mayor personally rescued "baby" from the little girls bathroom and hand delivered her to Ron at the pizza store that night. I don't suppose he ever thought that would be a part of the job when he signed up.
