Lavender Laundry Detergent

Here is a recipe I've been using for over a year now.  It works great, smells wonderful, and costs about .01 a load.  Wow, and it even is safe for sensitive skin.  No toxic chemicals or toxins.  The recipe calls for Fels Naptha, I use my own homemade soap.  You can use either.  You can also use and essential oil that smells good to you. Hope you save lots of money, and enjoy the great smell.   It only takes about 10-15 minutes to make about 2 gallons, and you use 1/4 to 1/2.

In a large pot add

6c. warm water

1/3 bar Fels Naptha or 1/2 Lye soap ( I use Lavender, or some blend like Lavender and Lime).

Melt grated soap over low heat.  When melted add:

1/2c wshing soda (not baking soda) this is located in the laundry detergent isle

1/2 borax  12 Mule does just fine

As soon as this is blended  add to a bucket that has 4c. of warm water.  When this is blended well,

add 1 gallon plus 6c. cool water.  Blend well, then add essential oil of your choice.  If you use the Fels Naptha, it will have a mild floral/citrus scent to it.

I love homemaking.  The possibilities are always limitless.  There is constantly somehing new for me to learn, that will bless my family or friends.  The more I ask the Lord to help me to save money and protect my family from things that can harm them, the more He givesme new resources that will help us.  How blessed we are that our Godis the Living God, and He cares about even the smallest of details.  Hope you are having a great day in the Lord.

Don't ya love it? For anyone with a front loader, it works great for them too! You can fill it to the max line if you want (1/2 c. in mine) but 1/4 c. works great too.

So, how is that chem-free toilet paper working? I assume it is working?

This has been on my to-do list for several weeks. I am almost out of store bought detergent, so it's about time to "take the plunge"! I found your blog from Rachel's (Babymakers), and have enjoyed reading your entries!

Blessings in Jesus' name!
