Here is the easiest and best mixtures I've found. You can use Brandy or a good quality Vodka. I think that Brandy gives a little more pungent taste, but either one is really good. This is truly a treat, and seeing how very expensive pure vanilla is, it is very economical. I make big bottles full, and just set them aside, so I never run out. It also makes great gifts, and I have sold several bottles to some local stores for $25. These are the big vinegar type bottles. Simple recipe: In a pint jar add 2cups of Brandy or Vodka and 1 vanilla bean split lengthwise or chopped in 4 in sections. Let sit for 6 months. I have used it in four months and it was good. The longer it sits, the better and stronger the taste of vanilla. If you use larger jars, add more beans. Hope you enjoy this as much as I have in my baking. In Christ Jesus, Geanine |
