Yard Sale Finds, and wearing dresses

Well today I've gotton alot done.  I've gotton all the winter clothes packed up finally.  That is a big job for me.  It always feels so good when the closets are cleaned out and ready for the new season.  I was able to put my four new dresses nicely in my closet.  I went "yard saling" on Saturday and found four incredible dresses for $2 each.  They are like brand new, and they are so pretty.  I feel so blessed. The Lord has always been so faithful to help me find great bargins.  A thought on dress wearing.
I really like wearing dresses.  I feel more femine in them.  "I wear pants some, but much prefer dresses.  There are certain times that pants are more practical, like shoveling manure with Amy,  or when I'm jumping on the trampoline, etc.. but dresses are just so pretty, and airy.  I always want to have a gentle spirit in my actions, and always want to be modest.  I never want there to be questions about my attire.  Do I think I have to wear dresses to please the Lord?   No, but I really like the girliness of them.  It can be very hard to find modest dresses or pants.  In the time we live in, modesty doesn't seem to be a big concern for most people.  Young girls are encouraged to dress provocatively or sexy, and parents encourage this.  I find some moms are living vicariously through their daughters.  How sad.  Instead of the Godly training they should be recieving, they are encouraged to wear clothing that is improper, which can lead to attention from people whose intentions may not be the purest.   Or moms are not being good role models with their own clothing.   Anyway, just a thought.

Have a great evening!

In Christ Jesus,

Geanine

While I certainly don't wear dresses every day, I'm with you... I love the way they make me feel (especially when I'm pregnant!). We should be encouraging modesty and teaching it by example.

Sounds like you were blessed this weekend. I stopped at a couple of yard sales but it was on Saturday so there was nothing good left over.
I am with you on modesty! Well said!
Love,
Maria

Over the past year or so I have changed my wardrobe to mostly skirts. We have also started dressing our girls...well like little girls in cute dresses and skirts. (As opposed to the stuff sold in most department stores). The way you dress really does affect the way you act. It is also so much easier to teach our girls how to act like ladies if we teach them to dress like one.

I love yard sailing.....I must go soon!

It is nice that the weather is warmer so we CAN wear skirts and dresses. I do not wear them in the winter. It's too cold.

I love yardsales too!

I saw your post on the last 100 posts page, and popped over. Just saying hi.

i think you are right about moms and daughters -- that is a sad thing to see a seven year old in belly shirts and mini skirts. ACKK.
this year i have become a big skirt fan. they are fun to wear!
