What a busy week
|
This has been a crazy week. Last Saturday was a used curriculum sell. It was a pretty big used sell. Poshred1, me, and our friend Dee loaded up at 7:00AM to head out.. We had such a fun time. I found some great curriculum at wonderful prices. I found the Apologia Biology course for $14. Wowsers that is really good. I was so pleased with my finds. We laughed alot. It's so good to have friends that like to laugh. We went to Panera Bread Co. afterwards. It was delicious. What a great day. On another note, the week has been filled to the brim. My sweetheart teaches the youth at church on Wed. evenings. We have been doing a study called From Clay to Conquest. It was a 30 week study over the first 5 books of the bible. It was really good. The youth did great. They were told by our pastor that the top three boys and girls would recieve a reward. They earned points for scripture memory, bible readings, handing out tracks, and quizes. They worked really hard. We found out that my 2 older sons came in 1st and 2nd place. They were so excited. I am very proud of my sweetheart too. He really worked hard to make sure they were learning God's word. Tomorrow we have our monthly moms night out. It is at poshred1's house. Thanks Amy for filling in on such short notice. At our moms night's we have so much fun. We really let loose, and party. Each mom brings a dish that they have made, so we eat some really yummo foods. We have a bible study, and we just fellowship. It is such a sweet time. I look forward to it every month. On another note, I had a pampered chef party about 3 weeks ago. I love cooking, and kitchen gadgets. I invited quite a few people, and ended up having a great show. I was able to get some things I've been wanting for some time, and for free. I highly encourage having a party. My friend Rita was the consultant. She is also a homeschool mom, and a personal chef. Because we had such a good turn out, she invited me out to lunch on Friday. I am so excited. I don't go out for lunch with friends hardly ever. I am anticipating a good meal, and great conversation. Hope everyone elses week is going good.
BTW, I have red kuri squash ready to be planted in the garden. I can't wait to reap the harvest on this veggie.
In Christ,
Geanine

I want to thank you for your empathy comment..that really lifted me up this morning...and yes I have just been basking in this so simple life that my family has!!!
I bet you ARE so proud of your sons and hubby!!! Congratulations to all three of them. My husband and I were the youth leaders at a church we used to attend..we REALLY enjoyed it. It was a very small group (on a good Sunday we would have six!) That's better than none though isn't it!!
Also great to hear that you got some good deals on your curriculum!!! I can't wait to get started on getting everything for my children!!
What is kuri squash?????????
So great to hear from you.
Have a VERY Blessed day!!!!!
Your Friend In Christ,
Shay

Good morning Geanine! I have to ask....what is red kuri squash? I have never heard of it!!
Don't you just love a good time out with your friends?? How refreshing for our soul!! It is good to take off our mommie hats occasionally. I don't get to do it very often...but I love it when I do!!

I just found your blog this morning by following a link from Rachel's blog (Babymakers). I wanted to comment on raw milk (from your March entries). We get raw milk through Organic Pastures Dairy, here in CA. We love it too! But I can't afford it for everyone, all the time. So we compromise...we make kefir. You can use store bought "milk" to make kefir, and use it in recipes that call for milk, buttermilk or yogurt. It's also delichious in smoothies.
Enjoy your used curriculum finds! I'm watching for Apologia Elementary books, too! Our sale is on March 31st. Can't wait!

It is such a blessing to have like-minded friends to shop and eat with. And to find a great deal like that to boot!
I can't even think about next year's curriculum until I'm a lot closer to finishing this current year's! It will be a while, I'm afraid.
I hope you have a great weekend!

Geanine,
Can you tell me what a red kuri squash is? My Alaskan garden is not the easiest thing in the world for this brown thumbed girl. (Did I mention that I LOVE picking wild berries because God is a much better gardener than I am?!)
I have a daughter that loves spaghetti squash! Would it be anything like that?
Blessings!

Good Morning Geanine,
Thanks for your input on the mint leaves for making tea. My miss Abby is looking forward to making some of her own concoctions!
My, you DID have a busy week. How nice that you could have an evening out with the girls; these times are important for our sanity. I think we are much better wives and mothers when we get to have a breather and enjoy some fellowship with other ladies now and then.
Home schoolers in my area have a book sale coming up also. Ours is at the end of June, so I need to get sorting and pricing right away to insure that I can get through it all. Somehow I seem to accumulate more books and curriculum than I have time to use. That ever happen to you? Have a blessed weekend with your treasures!
Blessings,
Pam

I'm glad everyone had such a wonderful time at MNO. I hope to make them in the fall.
You need to post about that squash... what a mystery for everyone to wonder about.
Have a wonderful week!

I love pampered chef too! Throwing a party is the best way to get free stuff.
My garden is coming along slowly....We have late freezes here so I have to hold off a little longer : (

Your hubby did a great job teaching them! He is blessed with the ability to come up with really memorable lessons.
My Red Kuri is up too! I got impatient and planted my tomatoes and peppers before they were big enough to withstand those evil seedling eatin' roly polies yesterday. I did put diatomaceous earth around them last night, but it rained and it's no good when it's wet. Checked this morning and 4 of the 5 cherry toms had vanished, and 2 of the five "Earlier Than Most" tomatoes. The ground around them was solid with those evil bugs! The bell peppers all made it with just a few nibbles. I'm afraid i may just have to settle for some plain old normal tomatoes from Lowes that are big enough to withstand the onslaught.
Tonight I put some lettuce scraps several inches from the plants in hopes that it will be much more tempting to them and lure them away from my veggies. I was wondering if I took my cordless Dust Buster out every day and just started vacuuming them up by the thousands if it would eventually wipe them out.........
Have a blessed Sunday!
Amy
